NSW Premier Forcing Cityrail To Talk To App Developers

transit sydney.pngAs a quick follow up to last week’s story on Cityrail threatening legal action over third party iPhone applications that apparently used Copyright timetable information: The NSW Premier has asked the Transport Minister David Campbell to intervene on behalf of the developers, asking RailCorp to meet with the developers to come to an arrangement.Of course, “talking to developers” doesn’t quite equal “work with developers to create solid applications that are useful to commuters”, but it sure as hell beats legal action.

Hit up Asher Moses’ coverage at SMH for more details, but I wouldn’t hold your breath for a faultless timetable app for Cityrail. After all, you can’t polish a turd…

    It’s all well and good having the timetable available, but we still have the problem of CityRail;
    A) Not showing up at all
    B) Not following the timetable

    Does anyone else have problems with the captcha? I struggle every time. I’m not a robot dammit.

    I do believe there’s a typo in your post :P

    It should be reading “ShittyRail”
    Hopefully they won’t develop their own app, it will be just as horrendous as the rail network. Leave it to the people who know what they’re doing, and let them do it.

    …Just because they can make some money out of the company while ShittyRail themselves struggle to do anything right…
