Screw the NBN and fibre-to-the-node networks – just move to a new greenfield housing development around Australia where Internode is installing Fibre-to-the-home broadband. The first development to get the FTTH network, which will be available at either 25Mbps, 50Mbps or 100Mbps is Fernbrooke estate, located 32km south-west of the Brisbane CBD. They’re also planning a couple of estates for South Australia as well.
Internode reckons that the 25Mbps connections will start at $50 a month, while the 100Mbps will start at under $100 a month. Considering many of us pay over $100 a month for ADSL2+ speeds, the propspect of lightning fast internet really does leave us salivating. I’d even consider moving to Queensland for it… Okay, that’s a lie, but I still want it at my home now.

Thursday, February 26, 2009 at 4:41 PMThey give you high speeds but low quota, you’d do 5GB in a couple of hours, minutes even with that type of connection.

Thursday, February 26, 2009 at 5:50 PMWell hey, it’s new! You wouldn’t expect to pay the same price as you currently do for, say ADSL2+. I’m sure you’d be able to get a decent 40GB plan for around $95 with 50Mbps which is a small increase over the same plan for ADSL2+.
While it may not seem like a big amount for those of you who use TPG, iiNet and all; remember that Internode’s uptime, reliability and customer service are practically unrivalled amongst all the ISP’s I’ve ever been with.
