The SMART Table, that Microsoft Surface-esque multitouch table specifically made for kids, is now out and making its way into classrooms. Each table comes with six applications out of the box and costs $US8000.
I just don’t get it. For years and years, the free-to-air networks argued that it wasn’t free EPG information or decent programming that would drive people to digital TV, it was the ability to multi-channel. Yet here we are in February 2009, the networks have been legally able to launch a second digital channel since January 1, and Channel 9 announces that they won’t be joining the multi-channel party until July because they need to upgrade their digital equipment.
When I moved to SF, all the seasons melted together. But at Lake Tahoe, in this Winter-wonderland, what makes a good gadget is an entirely different thing. Here’s my list or requirements.

Even though the mandatory switchover date from analogue to digital will be June 12 soon, about 681 (or 40 percent of) television stations will stop broadcasting analogue by the end of next week.
Dear iiNet,
If you’re going to continue to offer more and more awesome content in your unmetered Freezone, including Xbox Live, ABC’s iView and iTunes downloads, I’m REALLY going to need you to launch ADSL2+ at my local exchange so I can switch. Seriously, now that you’ve added Super 14 rugby to your Freezone, I’m so frustrated at the crappy deal I’m forced into putting up with because I need ADSL2+ that I’m probably going to have kick something just to stay sane.

M-Edge’s $30 Kindle 2 book jackets are designed to do what real book jackets do—provide a protective cover and a fancy exterior to better present your reading materials to the outside world.
It’s a pretty safe bet that we’ll be seeing more and more hybrid cars make their way down to Australia over the next coupl eof years. One of the first will probably be the Honda Insight, which was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show last year – we had a look at its crazy halo notification system back then too. Anyway, the guys at PopSci have had a bit of a test drive, plus a much closer look at the inner workings of the Insight, and it’s well worth checking out if you’re looking for a new hybrid, especially as it’s expected to come in a few thousand dollars cheaper than the Toyota Prius.
