I just used a Rebel XSI the other day and and it sure felt cheap in my hands compared to my Nikon D90. I managed to get nicer pics out of mine as well!
I got a Canon, i see the benefit over the Nikon as i use manual focus lenses such as the Zeiss and Leica brand lenses using adaptors. i’ve found that Canon is better equipped for other non EF and EFS bayonets.
Hard choice, I preferred the Cannon out of the two listed but ended up purchasing the Sony as I though bang for buck it’s a better buy, preferred the interface and picture quality between the two are very similar although overall I did like the Sony images better (eg, night/day shots comparisons..etc..etc)… :-)
I’m a semi-pro photographer and in my opinion Nikon wins hands down due to build quality and nothing more.
A few weeks ago I was at a photo shoot where our support vehicle operator reversed a RAV4 over one of my bags which contained my backup camera, a Nikon D300. The lens on it was totally squished, but the camera itself survived and is still going strong.
I’d like to see a Canon get run over by a 4WD and see how it holds up.
I dropped my Nikon Coolpix a zillion times. Sure it’s all battered to oblivion now, but it still manages to make excellent pictures. Which I cannot say for my old EOS, which I dropped only once, and has never worked since.
Canon without a doubt. You can purchase a camera with fantastic build quality and performance for $1200, apposed to $2500 for a nikon equivalent.
Anything under a D300 in a nikon digital is a steaming pile.
