For all the good news that came out about the Australian gaming industry yesterday, here’s some sad news to counter it: Red Ant, the local distributor for Capcom, Bethesda, Konami and Midway games titles (plus they sell all the TNA wrestling DVDs) has gone into receivership. We heard the rumour this morning, but comments over on Kotaku AU‘s story point us to the ASIC site which confirms it. It’s a sad day when any Aussie tech company goes over, and is a stark reminder of just how tough these times are financially.

Plus they distributed budget versions of a lot of popular games. They’re the only reason I ended up getting copies of Deus Ex, Morrowind, Rainbow Six: Raven Shield and more (they were about $7.50 each, 25% off at EBGames!).
