Google really, really, really wants to kick Microsoft in the office application department, as Australian IT today is reporting that they’re looking to hire a heap of resellers to push Google Apps on Small and medium businesses in Australia. By April this year, resellers will be able to “sell, customise and support Google Apps Premier Edition for small-to-medium business and enterprise customers”. The plan has already been trialled by 50 partners worldwide. It will be interesting to watch – Google’s premium offering is significantly cheaper than Microsoft’s and everything runs “in the cloud”. Even though Microsoft is pushing in that direction too, the fact Google doesn’t need any desktop software makes it particularly alluring for travelling businessmen and the homeless.
What do you guys reckon – Google apps or MS Office for small-to-medium business?
