Are you tired of your job? Were you laid off recently? No worries because a little thing like liquidation won’t stop Circuit City from helping you jump start a new career.
That’s right—this location is closing AND hiring. Sounds strange but think of how exciting working with a bankrupt company on the brink can be. Will I get paid? Who knows? What a rush! [Consumerist]

What is with you? I highly doubt that this is an add for one of the locations that is closing. This is based on the fact that Circuit City is not managing the liquidations. Thus, they don’t need to staff the stores with Circuit City personnel.
Just because Circuit City has filed for protection under Chapter 11 doesn’t mean that it is no longer a going concern. The filing was sipmly to ensure that it would have ample access to cash during the holiday buying season.
I wish people knew something about things they post on the internet. It seems that the people that post this stuff just insert their personal opinion and know nothing of business or finance.
Circuit City’s plans are to come out of Chapter 11 protection in the 1st half of 2009 (estimated to be around March or April). They will have renegotiated leases and trimmed low productivity locations. Besides, they have a large presence in Canada as well.
Get your facts straight folks. You’re trying to doom thousands of workers with your stupidity. Dumb and heartless is not a good combination.

In looking at the picture, I think somebody is confused. On the left, where the arrow points to store closing, that storefront does not look like a Circuit City. It looks more like a Linens ‘N Things. The storefront on the right, where the sign is hung, looks like a Circuit City. This seems to be a slight of hand trick made to create the illusion of idiocy on the part of Circuit City. If this is real, please show a nice widescreen of that pic so that I can see the Circuit City sign over the store on the left. I hope your Photoshop skills are up to par.

First, it wouldn’t be Circuit City doing the hiring. They gave over control to a liquidation firm.
Second, please look at the picture folks. The Circuit City is on the right (where the sign is). The store that is closing on the left looks like it might be a Linens ‘N Things. The photographer played a slight-of-hand trick and all of you bit. Don’t any of you know what a Circuit City storefront looks like? Why were the store signs left out of the pic?

Dean, hate to tell you, but that’s a Circuit City store. If you look closely, they have the holiday store hours hung in the window (in CC formatting and colors), as well as the Verizon ad right below it.
I used to work at Circuit City (before the economy issues, thank god) and can verify that as a CC.

Dean, hate to tell you, but that’s a Circuit City storefront. Look at the signs on the windows (tiny but legible) and you’ll see Circuit City’s store hours as well as a sign for Verizon right below them.

I worked at CC for almost 4 years & indeed it is a CC store. However, I am sure they are hiring people to help liquidate the store for lower wages, that is what they did at the Sharper Image in my town. It gets super busy with liquidation sales and seeing as how it is already Christmas time in “the city” it will be super slammed! on top of this i am sure that the people being hired – if they dont already know from the liquidation signs all over the building – are being told that the store will be closing for good once everything is gone.

Pardon me, Mr Dean- But yes, that picture IS of a CCity. I should, as an ex employee in the Loss Prevention Dept, recognize one of my own stores. The yellow paint on the top left is part of the last entrance design. The clearance % match those of the CCity that is liquidating close to home. The gentlemen at the entrance are in CCity uniform (grey for LPA and black for Sup/Mgr).
