Did XSKN Leak the New iPhone, Again? (We Doubt It)

Before the iPhone 3G was released, a Chinese case manufacturer named XSKN showed a case with a curved back that ended up resembling the iPhone 3G. Now, XSKN has leaked their iPhone nano case. Real?

iDeals China claims that it is, and offers plenty of specs to back it up. They say that the new iPhone nano will be the same height as the current iPod nano and include “3 sensors, camera, [and a]mirror screen but no 3G.” They also say that production of the iPhone nano will begin on December 20th, when we can expect to see all sorts of shots on the web.

Of course, there are a slew of reasons why these claims could be completely nuts. For one, it actually seems less likely for the manufacturer that leaked the last iPhone to leak the next iPhone. Does Apple really need third party cases ready at launch so badly that they’re willing to forgo any level of secrecy and hand over device mockups (along with full specs?) to a company that historically cannot be trusted? No way. A factory-to-factory dialogue is all we could imagine.

And then there’s the absurdity of the iPhone nano itself. On one hand, it could be an entry-level iPhone that allows Apple to corner the same market they did with their original nano (and shuffle, for that matter). But on the other, an iPhone nano would be comically small—almost like holding a Bluetooth headset to your face.

Needless to say, the entire Giz staff is highly sceptical of such a rumour—most of us don’t believe it. But we wanted you to know what’s going on in the world of iPhone rumours leading up to Macworld next month. Consider yourself armed and geek-dangerous. [idealschina via PMPToday]

Thank you Gizmod for telling your members about XSKN’s iPhone Nano case. In exchange I will answer a few questions you and your members posted. First no one from Apple gave us any specs on their new iPhone Nano just as no one from Apple gave us the specs for iPhone 3G. Seeing that iPhone 3G is history I will tell you how that information came to me and you will understand why it was a good risk on my part to make two cases for it and start selling it before iPhone 3G was launched. First someone brought a iPhone 3G shell to my office, second I saw Griffin’s mold for iPhone 3G. How did I manage to see Griffin’s mold? Simple they produced it the same mold company I was using, now that has got to be fate. The combination of the two events gave me enough confidence to design and make two cases. When I launched my iPhone 3G case very few people believed I really made them. Some bought, received the case they bought and posted that fact online. XSKN was recognized as being the first company to have cases even though a number of companies including Griffin had cases to sell, the rest is history. iPhone Nano is a bit more complex but the information I got was enough for me to decide to make two cases. We all know it was not lauched during MacWorld but why would it be if Steve Jobs was too sick to launch what I think will be the most important product Apple has produced to this day and if the information I have is correct then they have not manufactured enough iPhone Nanos to make a dent in the market. Some say I am a rebel and yes that is true but I feel I am doing what Steve Jobs would have done if he were in the accessory business and that is get as much information as you can and be recognized as the first to launch because being first is what people will remember. XSKN now is know by 100s of thousands of people, our product was always good and now we are first. Many companies had the same information about iPhone 3G before we did but we are recognized as the first. Can I say for sure my cases will fit iPhone Nano once it is released, I cannot, because I do not have or ever had a real iPhone Nano in my hands and I don’t want one until Apple officially releases it. Over the weeks I have seen and read more rumors which have increased my confidence that I have the right dimensions and my gamble is a good one. As always, those who have bought are guaranteed the fit, if it does not fit the new iPhone Nano we will replace the case.
