Barack Obama Uses a Zune

5:45AM December 4, 2008 | Matt Buchanan

After all of the misinformation and dirty lies spread about Obama over the course of the presidential campaign, this is the most shocking I’ve heard about him: He uses a Zune. This can’t be possible.

Why? Because, as has been widely reported, Obama, many of his staffers and Joe Biden use a Mac. And well, Zunes don’t work on Macs and … my mind is blown.

So, he’s either more personally tech savvy than we thought and uses Boot Camp or Parallels to sync up his Zune for working out—which is a lot of effort just to do that, really—showing just how committed he is to reaching across the aisle in all kinds of ways, or he secretly has a PC too. Or.. what if all that Mac stuff was just a lie to attract the young, Twittering college crowd? What if his whole campaign was a lie? Is the world even real? Hold me. [City Paper]

I never would have supported him if I had known this! But seriously…
I can’t believe that someone who supposedly uses a Mac and whose vice-president has an iPhone, would go out of his way to use Windows Media Player on a virtual PC. It makes so much more sense to use an iPod – and let’s not forget how awesome iPods are when compared to the Zune.

There was an update on the original article stating that Obama was using a zune, but its not necessarily his (ie a secret service guys zune).
I had a Zune… 3 of them actually. They’re pretty much the same with pro’s and cons for both. I eventually sold the zunes because it didnt have video playlists, i couldnt hear what was playing while forwarding or rewinding, i wanted crossfading (ie ipod nano 4th gen) and the screen was big but low colours and res.
The Tv-out function on the zune is great and shows the whole user interface, rather than just videos and slideshows. I also found that the Zune software was way more fun and pretty (except tagging stuff, that was insane)
In the end, im happy with my tiny ipod nano but I might consider a zune phone if/when it comes out in australia (which will be never!)
