This "test" is the stupidest thing I've ever seen. For the most part, breaking those blocks of concrete is more technique than strength. The longer the blocks are, the weaker they are at the center. And where do these guys hit? The center. Also, they put those pins on the side to, again make it a weaker piece, and be able to break. The tests for the Wii don't compare to the ones for the PS3 or 360 because the Wii is placed on a solid surface, where the other consoles are placed in a supported on both sides. This may put the Wii at a disadvantage as it's actually absorbing the entire energy of the punch, as where with the other consoles, the energy spreads around the number of blocks.

I think the consoles get more damaged from the debris falling onto them than the impact of the hit. Obviously when the guy hits it directly, it gets damaged even further.

Sure it takes strength to break one of those blocks. But, this test proves absolutely nothing. Too bad they had to destroy two perfectly fine consoles to get to that conclusion.

Additionally, in none of the tests did they test to see if the DVD/Blu-ray drive worked on the consoles.

Can someone please tell me if ANYONE who owns any of these consoles does anything with their unit other than let it sit there by the TV? I mean I sometimes take mine to a friend's, but take good care of it. "Structural integrity" is pointless for a console.

Now a handheld like PSP or DS/DSi would make more sense... It sounds like basically everyone who commented here has better input/ideas than G4's staff!

@RobLikesbrunch: I agree with bio and Rob. Just because it starts up doesn't mean the optical drive would have worked. I can't believe X-play didn't point that out. If it were a non-gaming channel (wasn't it G4?) then whatever, but G4 should know better. Shame on you G4! I thought the Wii held up better than PS3 after round 2. At least the power button was still there and not warped.

Was this test really necessary? You turn on the 360 and it'll die. Nintendo has engineered practically indestructible plastic as proven by the working but melted gameboy from Iraq. And the PS3 was put in a sauna and still worked. But I must say, this was quite funny :D

They popped the faceplate off (which is supposed to happen) and the guy didn't know how to turn it back on (he was trying to stick a pin in the hole which wouldn't work as the button is magnetic like your keyboard's keys)

But its all about the games. X360's games are so good that it is winning over PS3 *DESPITE* being built like crap on a stick. That, and Microsofts willingness to sell it at rock-bottom prices and win the console war by attrition.

Yes, because curb-stomping an Xbox 360 is an accurate representation of the abuse an average user will inflict on his console. Come on, I don't get that into my Gears of War campaign. The absolute worst I've ever experienced is when my bookshelf collapsed, taking my first gen Xbox with it. Amazingly enough, it still worked fairly well with the exception of the occasional disc read error due to the scratched lens.

yeah, im on my 4th 360 due to RROD and ive taken it apart and actually seen that they put 1/10th of the heat-sink grease theyre supposed to. so i know its some d00 d00 for hardware BUT... i wonder how it wouldve done had they known how to turn the thing on. i remember watching this with the first consoles: same situation. the faceplate broke off of the xbox and morgan webb didnt know how to put it back on to power it up.
