Why does Verizon come up with so many devices which is not keeping up with the trends now a days and targeting older generation than the newer generation.
Yes click will be useful for folks who are not used to touch screen and need some kind of feed back, but like ATT Verizon has to target younger generation if they want a bigger market share.
No Wifi, no way of installing newer browser, i am still bored.

@ggvrsn: no way of installing a newer browser because of no wifi?
well, seeing as all blackberrys require a data plan means that you CAN download and install newer browser..Opera anyone? Not to mention Firefox's new mobile browser coming out soon.

If I have another year on my VZ contract, does anyone know a way for me to get this thing without paying full retail?

@Unknown2U:
Yes, if you go in and get a 2 year contract, you will get a $50 rebate as advertised. But you will not get the $100 off as they give at the end of your contract to buy a new device.
I have always done that, but if no decent mobile device is available, I just wait for 2 years to end.

Actually they were 2 points. No wifi and no new browser. Well if we can download opera or firefox on this device, then its short coming is only the "no wifi"

Finally I can ditch my Q, which is on life support. If only sling would release a mobile player for blackberry I could feel good about getting the storm and forgetting about the Omnia.

@DucatiGuy: For the most part, Verizon phones suck ass, but the BB's are actually good on there.

@lschofield: Is that true? Surely Blackberry would have figured that out by now. That could be a deal breaker for me too.

@MrGutts: If you're a current Verizon customer and up for 2-yr renewal, you can get the phone $249.99 with $50 rebate and $100 upgrade credit. If you're a VIP (with current voice plan $79.99 or above) and is up for your ANNUAL upgrade, you get $50 off with 2-yr renewal = $199.99 and i believe also qualifies $50 rebate. hope that helped

@ggvrsn:
how is a clickable screen targeting an older generation? wouldnt it be just the opposite, as in typing on glass is like the worst feeling ever?

The Storm has me salivating but I'm having trouble w/ the idea of ditching my trusty Curve 8330 which works so well. Not to mention extending my contract another 24 months... I'm up for VIP upgrade in Feb, I'm going to wait & see how well this device performs before I buy one. (though from RIM, I expect that it will work very well).
RIM gets an "A" in my book.
WINMO is GARBAGE (I'm not even going to begin to rant about that)..
Apple's phones are on the bleeding edge but still are disposable, if you really like your iphone that much you're just going to have to deal w/ decreasing battery life, until you buy a new one (just as they've planned) :)

i heard Sprint is going to release their own version of the Storm under a different name sometime by Chirstmas. My friend told me, who isnt exactly a reliable source at all. He says hes up for a upgrade this year, and he has heard it is coming out. I think its bullshit. But is there a chance of this thing coming to sprint? If so, they would probably give it wifi to have the advantage over Verizon's gimped version.

I can't wait...! I hope its as good as RIM and Verizon claims. Cause I'll be ditching my good ole' iPhone 3G for this phone and for Verizon's great 3G network of course...

i doubt that sprint would get it, if anybody will get one it will be one of the gsm carriers. if i was a betting man i would say tmo as att got the bold as their high end blackberry. then again tmo is rumored to get the 8900 at the first of the year.
anybody figured out what the corp disc price is for the storm?
