Totalled Tesla Takes the Throne For Most Wrecked Yet
Posted by Jason Chen at 10:32 AM on November 5, 2008
We've seen Tesla crashes before, but none as severe as this current one. How did this one happen? A sales director was showing a potential buyer how the super fast, super cool electric gadgety vehicle cannot take wet turns at over 160kph. Better showing than telling, we always say. Luckily neither suffered extensive injuries. Who's up for trying it again at 150kph? [Wrecked Exotics via Jalopnik]

Who else thought the watermark was actually painted on the car door, indicating a web entrepreneur with psychotic ambitions?

so... does this get pulled out of the sales directors paycheck? and does the sales director sue tesla for not telling him to not take turns at 100 mph in the rain? oh no, he isn't american, he probably won't sue.

I was the first responder 2 weeks ago to a 65mph accident in a Ford Contour. After I put out the fire and took vitals, It was obvious neither occupant survived.
Cuddos to the Tesla.

Seeing as how they got a "wreckedexotics.com" decal on their door, I believe that maybe they wanted to wreck their exotic. It's just icing on the cake that they crashed into a junkyard.

@BethAulus: DIdn't seem to specify whether or not the victims died in any kind of fire.
@kabster: I admit I chuckled at Cuddos. (Kudos btw) :)

Seems unlikely that such a late model exotic would
end up stacked up in a pile in a junkyard. I
smell something fishy. And all you see is superficial
damage and removed parts.

@kabster: Yeah, all that gasoline for those combustion engines has a slight tendency to burn.

I can tell you one thing that is not even CLOSE to a 100mph crash. Unless they just spun out in a field there is not close to the deformation that would result from that type of accident. Guardrails, trees, curbs, ditches, walls or whatever in a regular accident would cause much more damage at that speed. Not because it isn't a well made car...in fact the best cars are meant to break apart at higher speeds to transfer the force of the crash to the car instead of the occupants.
BS exaggeration story by the idiot salesman who cannot drive.

@max11221:
No one even fact checked the story but Autobloggreen, apparently it was 100kph (~62mph) not 100mph (still high but not as high as 100mph and according to physics a lot less damaging).

I got the fire out before they were touched by fire, they were both cut in half from the waist down. They died on impact.

@keerock: Usually when you wreck a car and total it, the authorities are called and THEY are the ones who tow the wreck.

@p75hmsa: It think your right to some degree. Insurance companies won't "total" a car unless it meets certain criteria and once it is you can't sell the parts. But, the parts of this car are worth a ton on the market and I'm amazed they have it sitting in a scrap heap.
