Thanko's Latest Heated USB Mousepad Looks More Sane
Posted by Jason Chen at 9:30 AM on November 14, 2008
Thanko's previous heated USB mousepad was a stick-your-hand-in-a-whale affair, which was fine until the inside of it started smelling like an actual whale from your palm sweat. Their latest, thankfully eschews the cover method for a bottom-up approach to warming. I can't read Japanese, but the surface thermometer claims the pad gets up to 41.2 (avg. between 40 and 45) degrees Celsius, which is 106.1 Fahrenheit. Not too bad, actually. And if that's not enough, you can combine it with a heated mouse to double your efforts. [Thanko]

@fuzzymuffins: When you work in cubical cities that pump the AC all day, you wouldn't believe how cold it can get on your exposed hands. I have gloves with the fingers cut off.

This needs to also charge my mouse batteries as long as my mouse is on top of it.
Then I'll be sold.

Looking at the pic, it's easy to see why the thing's getting all heated. Seriously, though - does anyone still use a mousepad?

@fuzzymuffins: Hold your hands to your cheeks right now. The one you mouse with is quite a bit colder, isn't it? Holding your arm and hand in mousing position seems to reduce blood flow, probably just because of gravity.

@fuzzymuffins: Well how else do you keep your mouse's ball warm?
