Roofus Robot Eats Snow For Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
Posted by Jesus Diaz at 6:40 AM on November 20, 2008
Roofus is a robot that can do the job of 25 men cleaning up snow. Which is great, because who wants to have a job in this economy? I mean, do you have caterpillar tracks, two electric motors, one petrol engine, capability to carry 550 pounds of snow on your back, remote control link, and your skin is shiny orange? If you said yes to any of these, you don't need a job shoveling snow. Go to the next available circus and/or government agency.
Roofus also has a range finder system built-in. It doesn't only eat snow either: By using different peripherals, it can perform many other functions, like Lawnmowing, plow ending, road cleaning, and brush.

No way that scrawny outdoor Rhoomba could keep up the snow in my driveway. Fail.

@Gann: I like how it also has a "standard cutter" on the front to assist throwing that small child or pet into the "hopper".

Well, if this saves me from hearing the news story I hear at least once a year about the kid who built a snow fort on the curb and now everyone is surprised that he got hit/crush/buried by a passing plow, I ask some of my new "helping the guy behind ya!" taxes go towards this.

I enjoy snow-blowers myself. But I could see this being perfect for the wealthy but cheap elderly population who can't shovel their own snow, but don't want to pay a few neighborhood kids to do it.

I cold see this being rally slow and frustrating. Id get pissed off after the 5th time it got stuck on my shitty cracked up driveway and throw it in the Passaic river. I see this thing being slow as shit and to have to sit there and control it with a remote!!! Boring, give me a shovel, at least Ill get a work out. And if you have a rally nice big square driveway and the money to spend on this piece of crap, you might as well hire people, or a guy in a truck who will get it done in 15 min with a big plow. This thing SUCKS... ahh i feel better now.

Looks like it says "crossing lighting rods" to me. Why would it need to cross lighting rods?

The strip of images at the bottom shows how it would rise up, then descend to entirely engulf a small child or pet.

So what part of snow eating, shrubbery worshiping, icky icky zip boing leads the to name it Roofus. If you ask me, I'd say it looks more like a Robo-snow Tick to me.

Don't google the Roofus up to order one for your roof (yes, it is intended to remove snow from the flat roofs of large buildings.) Your disappointment upon learning that this thing is a concept and doesn't actually exist off the tubes of the interweb might cause you to toss yourself into the Passaic, or Potomac, or whatever.

One: WHY DO WE NEED TO SEE A SNOWBLOWER CONCEPT?
Two: Why all the talk of the Passaic River?
Three: I'd like to see someone buy these for where I live, only to realize a snow shovel is a wasted investment, let alone this behemoth.
Four: Why do you need to desnow the roof of a building? JUST BUILD IT AT AN ANGLE!

@OMG! Ponies!: I was joking as every time I have seen the Passaic river, it has walls.
@OMG! Ponies!: Of course he "fell". "Accidents" like this happen all the time. Now, my associate and me can provide you with "insurance" against "accidents" like that. It would be a shame if you were to "accidentally" pass out in some lime pits, and all your family found was your teeth and fillings.
