No way. The only reason for going with yet another disc based method of distributing movies is greed. More control for the controlling companies that produce the things. If the public were educated on digital distribution and a country like Australia had better (cheaper/faster) internet the use of physical media would be out. BluRay heaven forbid.

Nope.
Not at 40 bucks a pop anyways.
Hell, I only but DVD's when they get to $10-15..
Maybe when they break $20 I'll think about it..

I'm not going to upgrade either.

Direct downloads nao plz.
I know it's not what everyone wants, but i'm still yet to find a friendly internet plan that would let me download a bunch of HD clips in a month without messing up the bandwidth I use for work. Which is a shame because i'm happy to pay for it.

I bought two Blu-ray movies for my PS3 when I got it and haven't bought another since. Our local video rental shop has a few discs but they are not getting anymore in. The girl said because of rough treatment the discs become damaged quickly and need replacing and it's not worth the effort dealing with irate customers bringing them back. Also some people are too dumb to realise they won't play if they get fingerprints on them. They can polish the DVDs if they get scratched but it doesn't work on the Blu-rays.
It's annoying because it means I have to buy them outright and they want $39AU for the Blu-ray when many of the older titles are on DVD for less than $10AU. I already have the movies I want on DVD and I won't be paying insane prices to upgrade. I'll leave Blu-ray to the rich folk until the price comes down to DVD levels.

no.

I have watched a blu-ray movie on a brand new Sony Tv (Beautiful), with a PS3. Bose Surround Sound, etc. It's not mine, sadly :(

I saw very little difference between DVD and Blueray. If there is ever another jump like the one from VHS to DVD, then I will upgrade.

Blu-ray is riding on this Christmas season. Considering my local video shop have about 7 movies to hire (and most of them are old "classics"), I doubt it will last long into the new year.

The only thing that would make me upgrade is if they stop releasing movies on DVD, and start releasing in Blu-Ray only..
