Psyclone TouchCharge Kit Energises Xbox 360 Controllers Wirelessly
Posted by Gizmodo US Edition at 9:30 AM on November 1, 2008
We've spotted WildCharge wireless charging kits before, but this new implementation in the Psyclone TouchCharge kit for Xbox 360 controllers might make the most sense. You load the 360 controller with the special bundled battery and plug the base plate into the wall. Set the controller on that plate and, KAZAAM, everyone in your family thinks you're a warlock as your battery recharges right on your table. The only catch is that we think this kit might only support one battery/controller at a time, and at $US70 a pop that's going to add a pretty hefty tax on gaming. [EBGames]

Yeah I have one problem with the Touch Charge kit. If it's not authentic, my 12 year old kid chris will have vaginal fluid on the brain.

I think this pad actually will accept 4 devices at once.
In any combo. Like 2 Wii remotes a PS3 and a 360. Or 4 Wii remotes.
And in the future, other batteries, like the iphone and ipod.

Another problem is that you can't play while it's charging with this. At least with the cord, you could continue to play and then just unplug it when the controller hit 100% again.

If they would have made it a cheaper for one controller or bigger for two controllers then it would have been worth it.

@UntrueProphecy: My batteries are absolute crap and do not hold a charge. I end up having to leave them in full time. O well. Only problem for me with leaving them plugged in is that I can't use the "Oh, my controller died so I got shot" in COD4.

I saw the package in a local Best Buy. They show a picture of the unit with a Wiimote, 360, and PS3 controller on the surface all at the same time. The text implied you could purchase another batter and use the unit with multiple controllers at the same time. Not sure if it actually does that though.

hmmm 70 bucks, or 10 for the samsung kit that comes with a bunch of batteries and sizes, decisions decisions.

While this sounds cool, how efficient is it? Are you paying for any lost current that never makes it to the controller?

Seems cool, but I'll stick with rechargable batteries. They're like $10 for 4 of them, they take like 30 min to charge and I only need to replace them a few times a year.

this post makes me love the ps3 'charge on any usb' feature that much more.... when my controllers start flashing... i just hook them up to the laptop sitting near me... no need to sit within 5' of the console...

@unkpku has a really long fucking screenname because i saw s...: yeah the worst thng with the wii remotes is that there is not button to turn them off, unlike the xbox where you can sign out and everything, or atleast, the batteries on the xbox controllers are easier to take of put back on

@unkpku has a really long fucking screenname because i saw s...: I have rechargeable battery packs with a docking station for my Wii. I know it's not the same as this wireless thing, but it's way better than having to replace batteries all the time. It's less than half the price of this and I've had mine over a year and they still hold a charge great. Not sure how much longer I have before I'll need to replace them. But again, $30 a year is way cheaper than how many batteries you'd have to buy.

Microsoft has this awesome battery charger that charges 2 battery packs at once so when I rum out of batteries I just swap the pack out and it only costs 30 bucks and comes with one battery.
