Prada II Phone Comes With a Swanky Little Bluetooth Watch
Posted by John Herrman at 7:37 PM on November 19, 2008
Apparently it was optimistic to expect Prada to understand the difference between a fashion accessory and a phone accessory, because now look what's happened: Prada and LG have announced the Prada Link, a Bluetooth watch that pulls text messages and your call information from the Prada II phone. To be honest though, it doesn't look so bad. The stylish Link has a tiny little OLED screen that displays the content of text messages, call history data, a call rejection option and, of course, the time. The only downsides are the 48-hour battery life, which leaves you latching your watch to the phone for charging every couple of days, and the lack of a US release date. It's not yet clear if the watch will come with the phone for free, but considering that similar watches have retailed for around $US400, I'd guess not. [Prada via Akihabara]

What doesn't make sense is, a full blown GSM watch phone costs $158 WITH bluetooth, but a bluetooth watch goes for at least double.
It must be a very special kind of bluetooth! Raspberry perhaps?

Wow, i don't know what you guys hate about the watch so much.
I want to combo now, no wating, please.
Well only if the phone doesn't run WiMo, that would be really sad.
That formfactor looks WiMo-ish, but the first prada didn't run WiMo, right?

ok... so you can receive texts on your watch. that's kinda cool, but you can't send texts from your watch, which means you are probably going to be pulling your phone out constantly anyways.
now if you could talk into it, that would be something else entirely.

Not bad. I don't see how its ugly being that it is a square. I'd buy it if it were not for the $400 price tag.

Anyone know if this is LG's first capacitive touch screen device (doesn't mention it in the giz article but others have said it is capacitive)?
I'd hope they'd start introducing that into their US VZW phones since they're all resistive now.

It's a pretty good looking watch- the standard billet metal block with a wide black band typical of high end digital fashion watches these days...nothing wrong with that.
48 hour battery life isn't so big an issue either because I'm not going to sleep with the watch on my wrist.
The big obvious downside is folks who collect watches like me who don't want to wear the same watch every day.

Reminds me of "Absolutely Fabulous" when Edie wore the most hideous outfit imaginable, but when she said it was made by LaCroix, everyone said it was fabulous! Same with Prada, I guess.

Ok first the watch is way too big. And second the screen is super small. I understand its a watch but LG could do a better job.
And THIRD! i think the keyboard on the prada 2 looks so fxckinq sexy!!!!! i want to just fondle it and write words like asl;fkjadsfhngadjfl;djf xD
