MSI Gets Into Nettop PC Game With All-in-One Wind Neton Range
Posted by Kit Eaton at 11:30 PM on November 19, 2008
There're one or two contenders in the netbook-for-desktop nettop game, but with MSI's new Wind Neton machines it could get a bit interesting. Atom-based, of course, the PCs will come in 22-inch, 18.5 and 15.6-inch screen versions, dubbed M22, M19 and M16, and the all-in-one iMac alikes look like they'll have optional touchscreens. Releases are due in January for the M19, Feb for the M16 and March for the M22 at $US500, $US400 and $US800 respectively. Oh, the M22 has a Blu-ray drive option—Like I said, this could get interesting. [EngadgetChina and Crunchgear]

@Skiphex: what do you mean? of course there's a market. who doesn't want a computer tied down to a desk to be underspecced. the whole advantage of having a computer that you don't move around is for it to be as weak as possible. we leave the heavy computing for the mobile space. wait...

@I freebase cocaine for a living: 'iMac lookalikes?'
Don't look any thing alike to me....
Looks more like those cheap monitors that you get with cheap pcs that are all glammed up to make them look better than they are.
I agree, the whole net(insert suffix here) thing is going kinda crazy.

Atom-based iMac lookalikes? This nettop/netbook game is getting ridiculous.

This would be great for places that are lacking in the space department (offices and small apartments). the pricing on these seems pretty competitive as well.

this kind of this is not made for us (tech blog readers), they are made for my father, who will never notice any difference between this and a Core 2 (of course he'll notice its faster, but he wouldn't mind) since he only uses Firefox for email and browsing. I like them, lets see what the options are and what's the price.

Dr. Mr. Kalway,
When will you make the HackIntosh build for this little jewel?

Please, let me blow a bunch of cash to let me get the worst of both worlds - the non-portability of a desktop system, stuffed to the brim with fragile and more proprietary laptop parts.
OH it's a nettop so I can browse on it! cool, something i couldn't do before
Where do I enter my CC?
...
I hate these machines.

@Macdelaney: My mom would use one of these too, just for copying pictures from her camera and emailing them to people. Why would she need a $1000 computer with a $300 monitor to do that, when she can save a whole bunch of money at the cost of slower performance that she probably wouldn't even notice?
