In addition, our economy is in a much stronger position than many others around the world an the reason for the fall in the currency is not becuase our economy is “crappy” but because commodity prices have taken a hit.

someone needs to do some economics homework. To us Australians, ipods are no cheaper than they were at release. To Americans, the English, Japanese, et.al, the strength of their currencies has made the purchase of Aussie ipods cheaper in their own currencies.

I don't understand, I live in Australia and unless I had a relatively stable stream of income coming from overseas, how does the price change for me at all?...

I'm still going to get gouged on a 32GB touch regardless ;-)

Err… no, people who have lots of overseas currency should buy our iPods. For us, they’re the same price as they always were.
