Apple Smashes Any Hope of Updated iMac or Mac Mini for Holidays
The standard Apple line about what’s next in the pipeline is that they don’t comment on future products. So when an Apple spokesman Bill Evans lays out fairly directly that “our holiday line-up is set,” it doesn’t look so good for those iMac gut refreshes previously rumoured to hit this month. But hey, it’s not like we really had any hope for a Mac mini update in the first place. [MacWorld]

The quote, “our holiday lineup is set,” doesn’t necessarily mean that there will be no updates to the current lineup. The holiday lineup could still be “set” with Bill knowing that the updates are coming but not willing to reveal the release date because of Apple’s policy. If there was an actual update for November, that update release would have been set months ago without consumers knowing. I would have believed him if he would have said “no new updates for 2008″ but I don’t see that in the report. Unless Apple manufacture’s and prints containers in area 51, I can’t imagine someone not leaking the info. Money talks these days. If this update doesn’t happen then those who say they know a mole will have egg on their face and will no longer be a credible source. But knowing the way Jobs thinks, he will make consumers wait until next year. He loves anticipation and since Apple sales are solid right now, what’s the hurry. I’m willing to wait until the 10th to know. It’s just a week away.
