The Solar Com-Bat Spy Plane Is Too Cool For Batman
11:40AM Gizmodo US Edition | Not far from a kick arse gadget that Batman would own, the Solar Com-Bat Spy Plane is a surveillance device which is powered by solar, wind and vibrations, making it seem like the perfect device to use in the heat of battle. Although this bat-like spycam is only 6 inches long, it will be a huge help in gathering real-time data for soldiers, which includes tracking down sound detection, and detecting nuclear radiation and poisonous gasses. The only thing that could make this gadget cooler is if its parents—a stapler and a coffee machine—were shot by a mugger in front of its eyes, giving it a more brooding personality. Spooky Hexapod Dancing Robot Scares Ladies Your Way
11:20AM Gizmodo US Edition | This six-legged, pimp-headed robot dancing to Lou Bega’s “Mambo No. 5″ is all sorts of freaky. It’s been on YouTube for a few weeks, but I thought it was perfect for Halloween, as evidenced by that pins-and-needles feeling I get watching it. Remember that scene in Toy Story when the maltreated toys go after Buzz and Woody? Why the hell would someone want to replicate toys so scary? It’s enough to make me go running and screaming like a girl—wait, I totally forgot, I am a girl. Maybe you guys should show your lady friends this clip, so you can magically morph into Prince Charmings to protect and console them. [Geekologie] More »

Stunning Carved Pedestal For iPhone Worship
11:00AM Gizmodo US Edition | I think it is safe to say that design student Kyle Buckner is more than just an iPhone user—he is an iPhone worshipper. After all, the iPhone sits atop his elaborate wood-carved pedestal like a King on his throne. Is this the beginning of some sort of cult? Will there be robes and chanting? Truth be told, the sculpture was carved for a school project—but throw an actual dock in there and Buckner would be the envy of Apple superfans everywhere. [Mac|Life] More »

Google Robots Ordered to Fight Zombies on Halloween
10:57AM Gizmodo US Edition | Halloween is a scary day because you never know when some undead miscreant is going to try and harvest your brain. That’s why, as Matt Cutts discovered, Google has ordered its robots to disallow any brain-hungry zombies from…well…eating brains. I’m not sure exactly how this zombie spotting and robot deployment works, but now we can search the web with the knowledge our heads will be intact every step of the way. More »

Halloween Wii Dogs Make Us Laugh, Shed Single Tear
10:30AM Gizmodo US Edition | Despite the humiliated faces of these two dogs dressed as a Nintendo Wii and a Wiimote, this photo has had two effects in me. One, it made me chuckle. Two, it made me scramble all over the house looking for cardboard, white paint, black and blue markers, a dog mask, and fur coat (trust me, all these elements are somewhere in my closets). Sadly, I couldn’t find them on time, so I’m going to have to wear again my rubber chicken outfit, which keeps sticking on all the wrong places. More »

iPhone Secret: Web Apps Can Mimic Real Apps
9:57AM Gizmodo US Edition | What you are you seeing in these screenshots may seem like a real iPhone application, but it’s not. It’s a web page displayed in full screen, completely out of Safari, behaving and looking exactly as any native iPhone program would do. The best thing: It is not a new feature of the incoming iPhone OS 2.2 update: The secret feature is “hidden” in the current 2.1 version and only requires one thing: HTML code embedded in the web page itself. No iPhone modification is required. If you are browsing this from the iPhone, you can try it yourself very easily: More »

Psyclone TouchCharge Kit Energises Xbox 360 Controllers Wirelessly
9:30AM Gizmodo US Edition | We’ve spotted WildCharge wireless charging kits before, but this new implementation in the Psyclone TouchCharge kit for Xbox 360 controllers might make the most sense. You load the 360 controller with the special bundled battery and plug the base plate into the wall. Set the controller on that plate and, KAZAAM, everyone in your family thinks you’re a warlock as your battery recharges right on your table. The only catch is that we think this kit might only support one battery/controller at a time, and at $US70 a pop that’s going to add a pretty hefty tax on gaming. [EBGames] More »

Asus Gets Customer Locked Up For 10 Months Over Defective Hardware
9:00AM Gizmodo US Edition | The Beijing Times is reporting on a shocking court case involving Asus and a young female customer named Huang Jing. It all started back in 2006 when Huang bought a V6800V model ASUS laptop from a Beijing retailer and quickly discovered it to be defective. She sent the computer back to Asus several times for repairs, but the problems persisted. Upon further examination, one of the replacement CPUs used to “fix” the computer was actually an Intel “engineering sample” and therefore unlawful to sell. Now here is where things get really crazy.
