World's Longest Ringtone Clocks In at Over an Hour
Posted by Gizmodo US Edition at 1:45 PM on October 7, 2008
For those of you who love to let your mobile phones ring incessantly, never bothering to pick it up or let it go to voicemail, here's the world's longest mobile phone ringtone. The ringtone, supplied by Japanese company Dwango, lasts 61 minutes and 40 seconds and will be submitted for inclusion in the Guinness Book of Records. [PlusD via Textually]

So... I can mix my 11 days worth of music into one file then convert it into MP3 or M4R and then I can have the world record?
Sounds good.

Okay so I'll create one that's 61 minutes 50 seconds long. World record for me. Hurray.

@Gary_7vn: I can get behind that.

How does that even make sense? What exactly connotes 'ringtone.' I have a Paul Van Dyk DJ Set on my computer that lasts 5 hours.
If I change the extension it from mp3 to m4r does that mean I made the longest ringtone? I've always wanted to be in some oversized tome of uselessness...

just have it play Lamb Chop's "Song that Doesn't End" on a continuous loop, and it may also make the world first for homicide to happen twice to the same person.

Yes, but would a mobile phone carrier allow you to let it ring that long?

I have a ring tone called silent that goes on forever. I like it- sort of a John Cage feel to it. Not sure it has anything on As Slow As Possible, though. If they sell a ringtone of that I'm in.

@Gary_7vn:
no, i think the world record for "most bubbles blown while holding a tarantula inside your mouth within 30 seconds" is still stupider.

"will be submitted for inclusion in the Guinness Book of World Records" LOL! Somebody quick! make a 2 hour ring tone and fuck up their plans! :D Actually did they mean something like a polyphonic ringtone or a real one? Cause if it is polyphonic that makes things a bit, well not harder, actually easier. You just take 10 notes and copy them to repeat for about 2 hours and you're good to go! There is no rule that says it cannot be repetitive and annoying, right? So - winner, winner chicken wiener (yeah I do know it is dinner, just seemed dumber and funnier this way). I guess that Guinness will never accept that record since a 3-years old can break it in half like a biscuit! :D What were they thinking? Idiots!
