T-Mobile Cameo: Now Even Your Digital Picture Frame Needs a Mobile Phone Plan
Posted by Mark Wilson at 4:30 AM on October 7, 2008
The Cameo is T-Mobile's $US100 digital picture frame that's loaded with a GSM mobile phone tech. Users, who are willing to fork over $US10 a month for a subscription, will be able to snap shots on their phones and have the pictures automagically beamed to their Cameo. For those who ditch out on the subscription, the Cameo is still a standard digital picture frame, running at 720 x 480 and supporting various flash cards and mini USB storage. So is it practical? We'll let you decide. [CellPhone Signal]

@Overheal: Yeah until some of the 'wrong' images get sent accidentally....

So I can some blurry poorly lit images and beam them directly to my digital photo frame for only 10 bucks a month(plus a 100 for the frame). Awesome....
I love you t-mobile, but this is really a reach. Is there anybody who thinks this a good idea? If so I have a sega cd you maybe interested in.

I could see the appeal if you left the frame with your parents while you went backpacking in Europe or something.

I have this already. My digital images are automagically (ok, bluetooth'd) over to my PowerBook. And I don't even need T-Moble's crappy service either.

Ok I have T Mobile and don't get me wrong I love the service and it works great for me and it gives me everything I want in a cellular service.
But what the deuce are they spending time effort and money on something so ridiculous and impractical? I'm sure there's a market for this out there somewhere. Soccer moms or teenage girls who love taking pictures of puppies or something like that. But overall, this doesn't seem like something that will be too profitable.
Hmmmmm.... Methinks TMobile should try to invest in something worth while like... I don't know... 3G!!!

@Jrsy is the dude, playing the dude, disguised as another du...: Well.. not to start a war or anything but speak for yourself. T-Mobile is great for me. I can tether, use my blackberry, unlimited in coming calls using Grand Central and my Faves. The list goes on. Not to mention the fact that I can use my device anywhere in the world or bring a phone from anywhere in the world pretty much, slot my sim in and hey I am good to go.

This isn't new at all! Nokia did came up with this in 2005 with the SU-7!

@PCLoadLetter: Sega CD? Really? Do you have a copy of sewer shark as well? I'll take it! I wouldn't mind playing that again one day for nostalgic purposes.

Casn't most phones post to flicker anyway so that any picture frame that connects to the internet will pull new images?
Who is taking picture frame worthy photos with ther shitty camera phones anyway?

Perfect! Now I can ditch my EOS 400D and take my holiday pictures with my phone camera and upload them to grannys picture frame so she can follow our trip! What I've always wanted!

It makes SENSE, but is it practical? Not sure - why not just have it wifi, and load the pics from an account? Because then they wouldnt need to charge $.
Silly, if you ask around to your closest friends.

I'd like to see a wifi picture frame with an automatic update feature and a camera with built-in wimax! That'd be much more cost effective!

My cell phone camera is 5megapixel. Granted I haven't really taken anything frame worthy except maybe for the cat sleeping...

Greedy, greedy, greedy carriers. This is supposed to be worth $10 a month? We all have money to throw around now because unemployment is at its lowest in years and everybody's getting huge raises this year. Just beautiful. What's up with those 1KB text messages now costing 20 cents instead of 5 cents? Is inflation at 400%?

This is where XOHM is going to shine... it will put an end to the gouging involved when you want to use something other than your cell phone on the Internet.
Sprint won't see you as a device or series of devices, but as a person. You'll be able to use your XOHM account for any enabled device... just log in. You won't need a separate plan or SIM or whatever to make it happen.
