Star Trek Original Series Now Warping on YouTube
Posted by Jesus Diaz at 9:24 AM on October 11, 2008
Just a few days after its TV anniversary, and in time for the new Star Trek movie, YouTube is now airing a bunch of full episodes of Star Trek. According to them, this is just the beginning:
We are starting to test full-length programming on YouTube, beginning with some fan favourites requested by you.
For now there are 15 50-minute episodes of each series--for Jason and Wilson they are are also showing MacGyver and Beverly Hills 90210--all supported by advertising. I don't mind the advertising too much, although it just feels like old school TV broadcasting (including the quality). But as long as I can watch them on my iPhone from time to time, I'm happy. Especially since I'm in my Star Trek mood now, maybe to save myself from all the Clone Wars and the rest of stormtrooper raping coming from Lucasfilm--if you didn't watch South Park this week, go and see it.
And maybe professor Michael Zeller will get his pop references right and help us solve one of the most important questions of all time: Imperial Star Destroyer or Enteprise? [Star Trek on YouTube via Cnet]

Argh, why must they insist on country restrictions when this show has been on the air for 40 years in this country too?

Not to sound like a geek (okay, I'll sound like a geek) but do these broadcasts have the original SFX or the new digital SFX?

I'll give you a recap since you can't see it.
Enterprise orbits planet. Kirk, Spock, McCoy and a couple of Red shirt wearing dudes beam down to the planet. Almost immediately one of the Red shirts is vaporized out of existance. McCoy confirms, "He's dead Jim." Like we didn't already know that with the ominous music in the background. Kirk paces about, chewing up the surrounding cardboard and styrofoam while pontificating about the risks of being out in the 'unknown'. Spock waves his purse around and says a bunch of junk that no one really gives a shit about. Red shirt two comes back to report his findings. He starts to get to a critical part when suddenly he spasms and dies in Kirk's arms. "You were the best captain evar." he sputters out as his bowels let loose in his space pants. At that point they all beam up not knowing that they have picked up some crazy hitch-hiking aliens. Upon being confronted in the transporter room Kirk has to reluctantly surrender his vessel over to the aliens after being distracted by one of their scantily clad female members.
After a bunch of scenes of the crew getting their collective asses handed to them by a bunch of friggin space hippies Kirk manages to get some alone time with one of the space-whores. Usually it's the prettiest one with the biggest rack, but Kirk's been known to hit a space pig or two when he's desperate. Kirk sells this dopey broad on some sappy junk about love, romance and passion. At this point he's already forcing himself on her jamming his tongue down her throught. The combination of Aqua Velva along with the hint of that pastrami sandwich Kirk wolfed down at lunch is like an aphrodisiac to this alien babe. She feels his manly girth straining against the girdle under his uniform. She instantly falls for Kirk's bullshit and totally throws in with him and his crew as they overpower her people and take back the ship. Kirk, not having time for a real relationship opts for the direct, use em & lose em approach quickly shuttling space bimbo down to the planet with her very pissed off comadres. Back on the bridge Kirk and McCoy share some lame joke about human emotions and everyone laughs at Spock because he doesn't get it. Meanwhile he sits in his chair brooding. He knows that eventually he will snap and go astro-postal on these stinking primates but for now he just bites his lip and goes back to watching Vulcan pr0n on his scanner.
Everything wraps up neatly as recylced stock footage shows the Enterprise cruising out in open space.
The end.

Right, quazi.
And CBS also has ALL 3 SEASONS in glorious HighDef... not the shitty, good-for-nothing-but-crappy-home-movies, standard YouTube video quality.
So, fellow nerds, enjoy:

@crapcakes: YouTube video quality isn't even good for home movies. That shit's so bad watching clips give me nausea.
