Panasonic Turns 90, Builds 300 Million TVs, Ditches Slave Name

It's been a big week for Panasonic: The company founded by Konosuke Matsushita turned 90, celebrating by both finally swapping the founder's surname in favour of the more well-known Panasonic Corp, and by building its 300 millionth TV set. Apparently this is a record even Sony can't touch, unless the company announces tomorrow that it will focus entirely on plasma sets that are 150 inches and above. I dunno, 90-year-olds can be quite unpredictable sometimes. Anyway, happy birthday, Panasonic—or are you going by just Panny now? [Panasonic on Giz]

90 years this...300 millionth that...150 inches other. Congratulations, Panasonic! And I guess in a story that's all about the numbers, I'll jump in here with one last reporting of one very special number (at least to me).
OT: -50
Thanks, folks, for all the moral support and encouragement these last 5 months, it has been a delightful and energizing experience sharing my personal transformation with you all. Still about ten-ish pounds to go, but--hey!--50 is such a magic number it seems a good place to bring the quasi-daily reports to an end, leaving room for one last report in a few weeks (when I hit that ultimate goal) along with maybe a snazzy new avatar.
