Motorola Confirms Android Phone, Crosses Fingers
Posted by Jesus Diaz at 8:20 AM on October 2, 2008
In what it could seem like their last change to regain some relevance in the mobile phone market--and actually survive the current war--Motorola has confirmed their bet on Android in an official statement answering previous rumours:
We're excited about the innovation possibilities on Android, and [we] look forward to delivering great products in partnership with Google and the Open Handset Alliance (OHA).
They won't confirm the increase in the development team from 50 to 350, but given their situation, it seems logical to think that the company is trying to get into the Google train as soon as possible. [Beta News via Talk Android]

fix the horrendous battery life and maybe i'd consider buying another moto phone. that is, unless they fix the iphone 3g's shortcomings first...

I installed Car Phones, when they were called "Car phones" (1988/ 1989, yes i am old) a "handset" was something completely different then, but that's a different story for fleshbot
I look at Motorola a differnt way, sure they have had their fair share of clunkers over the years, but they have had some leading edge phones that started design trends...StarTAC until then we just had ugly candybar phones, Razr, at the time it came out it was a leading design change...well since then they faltered a little...well amputation is more the term.
just remember, in a few years, some kid on a blog will be making fun of the iPhone 3G !
Nuff said, chop away

I find the Motorola phones aesthetically pleasing (except for the RAZR), and if they were to put some of that sweet loving on it, I would be SO very pleased. Their UI, though not TOO hard to figure out, is irritating and not very intuitive.
