It’s better to use PriceUSA, its run by a lady in Melbourne who is really nice and extremely helpful. Their shipping fees are also heaps cheaper and they’ll also consolodate your order for you.

It amazes me how many haters there are out there. Look at Bongo for what they are. They are a consolidator. They use DHL to ship their products and they give a pretty hefty discount off DHL prices. If you want slow boat (US postal Service), then PriceUSA is probably the way to go. If you want to buy multiple purchases in the US and consolidate them into one shipment with tracking…then I have found Bongo to be the best forwarder.

Also…what is this “volume tax” that you talk about? I have used Bongo for about 4 months now and never received any “volume tax.”

Just another comment to point out that PriceUSA.com.au has been doing this for a while.

Second, the Australia tax on Apple products, due to the currency (and even with the latest MacBooks) is practically non existent, only 4% on the mid range MacBook. Also, iPods and iMacs etc. are all CHEAPER in Australia since they were updated before our currency collapsed.

I've used Bongo to get stuff from the US, where distributors have stopped allowing shipments to international countries (Bauer Ice Hockey items). I could caculate the shipping for Australia on the items from these places and they are 1/2 what the prices that Bongo charges. There are also a number of other companies (even UPS will do it for you) which provide much cheaper services doing exactly the same thing. Also Bongo take a fair bit of time to process the orders, its not 24 hours like their website says, my parcels took 3 days to turn around a bongo (I know because I had US tracking numbers).

If you are importing Rockband I would definately look at the others because they dont charge as much and a lot of them dont have the "volume tax" that Bongo charge.

Personally they are just another mailforwarder and an expensive one at best.

Sounds great, and most of the comments quite helpful too. I’d try it if the price was right, that PS3 story didn’t sound nice at all, especially because I’m primarily into gadgets.

Meh, Bongo is just another mail forwarder, and those have been around for ages. Anyone who’s half-savy about international purchasing would’ve figured out how to use one already.

http://www.priceusa.com.au have been offering this service for ages! Personally, I’ve used priceUSA multiple times, the service is great, the 5% isn’t really damning, and you get personalised updates on where your stuff is and when you can expect it. Bongo sounds allright, but when you are already on a good thing, why change?

About a year ago I was trying to get a pair of Grado headphones. 60 dollars US, but about 160 over here from the exclusive distributor. You couldn’t buy them from online stores as they wouldn’t ship them to Australia. Anyway, if I’d known about this i would have a pair right now. It’s a shame the the Aussie dollar is so poor at the moment.
