BlackBerry Storm Tech Manual Offers Proof of iPhone Inspiration
Posted by Gizmodo US Edition at 4:35 PM on October 8, 2008
It's probably not a surprise that RIM definitely had iPhones on the brain while creating the new (and pretty awesome) BlackBerry Storm--but who knew they'd make it this obvious. In the vodafone technical specifications manual, the company's Storm is sporting a very familiar OS, and it's definitely not the regular BlackBerry's. Hmmmm. [BlackBerry UK]

I like how just a couple of the icons are slightly different than the iPhone's

Is this legit? If so..... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Well the thing was probably developed on a fast track program. So no real OS screen shots were available or built in apps screen shots were ready for the marketing ramp up cycle. Which usually requires 2 to 3 months before launch at the latest. So this tells you that this thing is rushed out the door. Hardware and software.... good luck boys.

It's one of the largest brands in the world, why can't you spell Vodafone correctly? Especially since the word is in the image you're using. The ban hammer should be used for contributors too.

so, there is a spec sheet after your link and clicking on "360° view" [blackberry.vodafone.co.uk] but the above picture is not to be found.
where exactly did this image come from? (direct link please.)

"The best of the internet" comes from using mobile Safari. And apparently RIM likes that tap-to-enlarge- function. But to one-up Apple, when you enlarge on the Blackberry, not only would it show you the indicator of where your finger would be (like the iPhone tutorial vids), but the screen would enlarge so much that it'd actually cover the Blackberry logo itself. Impressive. A catch though, you'd need to use the now nonexistent Cingular for that function, otherwise you'll be stuck with AT&T. How knew they operated in the UK?? How nice of Vodafone to tell us. Maybe they got lonely for being the UK's largest operator?
(note: I know AT&T bought Cingular, thanks)

I have the iPhone theme on my BB Pearl and people ask me about it all the time. I can only laugh at this. Even the lock screen on my Pearl says "click to unlock" at the bottom instead of "slide to unlock." It's fun to see people do double takes at my phone.

@supercollider: you still have a virtual keyboard for short texts... but for long typeing text is the qwerty
you don't write many short emails one after another
you don't vizit one site after another (in short term)
you don't sms one after another
but the ideea is that slide takes at least 3mm... yeah... probabli shoul make mine thinner (don't know the inside desin is posible to make a 12mm maybe)
