BlackBerry Storm Official Announcement to Hit Tomorrow?
Posted by John Mahoney at 12:40 AM on October 8, 2008
So says Time.com, in their roundup of BlackBerry Storm blogosphere rumours posted today:
RIM declined TIME's request for comment on the leaked information about the Storm. But with a formal announcement expected by Wednesday, the Web buzz that began this spring about the hot new BlackBerry has turned into a roar.
So if you were about to buy a new BlackBerry today, I'd suggest maybe giving it another 24 hours. We'll keep an eye out for you. [Time.com]

Yeah, like sneaky, I saw a commercial last night for the Storm for Verizon.
It's here:
+ Watch video
It's a crappy version, but it's there.

I sure hope so, I want some answers to questions about it and not speculation. I am still holding out for wifi and the Time article says it will have it, but then again they aren't exactly tech guys over there so who knows.

Can't remember what I was watching but there was a teaser commercial for the storm last night on. Only showed the back of the device then said coming soon, seems like an official announcement to me.

If slingbox would ever release a mobile player for Blackberry I would be all over this. I wonder if verizon has something to do with them holding back. Seeing as its against verizon tos to stream media...

@Ike_Skelton: Verizon initially. Most likely anyway. That was the company that leaked all of the pictures.

bring it, i've been keeping my blackjack I on life support for 6+ months to see both this phone and the Bold. As the Bold just seems like a rounded, chunky monkey, 8800 (on horrific AT&T no less) I'm down to the Storm / Thunder and hoping to have me some Verizon EV-DO goodness.

I'm not sure if something really qualifies as a news item if you end the title with a question mark.

@carsly: Do you really assess devices soley by photos? The Bold is nothing like the 8800.

I will wait for your hands on review before I go and buy a shiny new gadget. I want to find out what it really does before plunking down a bunch of money. When are you getting your grubby little hands on one????? I want to know what to expect.

On-screen keyboards just suck, plain and simple. I really don't know why RIM is going down the "me too" road. The BB is a superior email device, which means lots of typing. I don't consider it to be as good at media/internet as the competition, and wonder why they're not playing to their strengths.

@Mandatory_Field: I wouldn't mind if they adapted some of the touchscreen goodness into a model with a keyboard though :)

@chasema: Yeah I saw this same commercial last night. Maybe this phone will finally give Verizon a boost again since they really do have great reception, just crappy phones.

I think I'll hold off on getting an iPhone for just a little while longer..

@marc_wtih_a_c: Yeah, maybe a slide-out keyboard, so you would still get a nice big screen. Other than added bulk, that would pretty much be the best of both worlds.

Verizon?! Really?! I would have thought they'd wait another 2 years or so, given their track record on the curve...
