BlackBerry Curve 8900 (Javelin) Video Hands On and Comparison
Posted by Wilson Rothman at 10:30 AM on October 10, 2008
Following up their review of the pre-release BlackBerry Curve 8900 (aka Javelin), the CrackBerry guys decided to shoot a video of it, including both a feature walkthrough and a comparison with the older Curve and the new Bold. It's helpful, since the Javelin really is a combination of the two. Anyway, have a look—thankfully the CB dudes made the video embeddable, so your clickin' finger can rest awhile. [CrackBerry]

I think RIM is unleashing a world of hurt on HTC, Apple and everyone else.
Basically all 3 phones (because of bold delays) are going to come out in relatively quick succession.
Even if you don't plan on getting one, more competition is better for everyone.

Such a gorgeous phone. It's a great size too -- the Bold is nice, but a bit too big.

Between this and the Bold it's a very tough choice. I don't much mind the Bold's size; my past 2 phones were a HTC 6700 and 6800 and now I own a BlackBerry 8830. So I'm no stranger to man sized phones. Unfortunately the Javelin doesn't support 3G or else it would trump the Bold, IMO
Unfortunately Sprint is the Anti-RIM and won't be getting any new berries anytime soon.

I think he forgot to mention the camera is auto-focus.

I think 8900 and Storm are the ones to watch. I've had both pearl series and looking for the storm.
Good job on the video demo btw. We've been working with the storm emulator for the past couple days for our pdfvue.com (mobile online pdf reader) and it looks great. Great UI. Would like to see a feature comparison between the 8900 and storm.

@dee_ess_dee_1 Yes. In fact the reviewer noticed it. And he mentioned it. That is the French keyboard layout.

did anyone else notice the keyboard on the javelin?? it says AZERTY where the QWERTY row usually is. the Q and the A seem to be interchanged, and the Z and the W have been done the same way.

Sweet phone wish I did not get my 8330 at all. But that employer discount on the bill and phone from Sprint called me first.

@dee_ess_dee_1: He did say that the keyboard was for the French market.
