I've been using x64 Vista Ultimate for about a year and a half, all I can say are good things, yes in the beginning I had some BSOD's, but after SP1 I didn't have ANY at ALL and I constantly install/uninstall stuff, play around with different progs, try out betas. The only thing didn't work was my 8 year old scanner (it was time to replace that big box anyways). I love it, it seems to manage resources way better then XP did, especially if you have dual or quad core.

I'll be serious. I'm a total stat whore when it comes to OS's, but Vista is proving to be incredibly effective - despite XP's popularity. I can see me sticking with Vista for a long time now.

Quality control problems with the classic and the iPhone did it. Two products in a row that did not work as advertised out of the box. As I've said, if Apple can't figure out how to make a working iPod, they're not going to get my money.

I put up with a HDD that lasted 13 months. I put up with bloatware. And then, while working on my VAIO, I did a file search - ".m4p". It came back with over 500 hits. That's too much investment in a closed platform with an admittedly spotty record with me.

I see few new or exciting features coming out of Cupertino. Genius just doesn't impress me. Not nearly as much as some of the networking stuff that Microsoft has been doing impresses me. I look at the iPod classic and iTunes 8 and I see an aging platform and a company resting on its laurels. Apple isn't hungry anymore.

I'm cutting bait and going home. I'm not dropping anymore lines into Apple's pond.

Been using Vista for almost a year now... not really what you'd call a heavy computer user, and I've never had a major problem with Vista.

I agree with the Vista Ultimate 64bit. After installing SP1 my machine runs better, smoother with less interruptions than XP ever did.

It's not just wonderful Russia. I ran across a urinal cake holder in a rest room in Santa Clara with Foundry Networks advertised on it! I have to find it again and take a picture. I like Foundry, seemed a shame to piss on them.

I have been very vocal on what I think of Vista but I have come to the conclusion that most of my hatorade came from the fact that my first Vista experiences were on a hardware platform that NEVER should have had Vista installed in the first place. I'm willing to give Vista another try...but honestly I a little scared. I don't want the potential headaches. I don't want dodgy compatibility with older devices (or none in the case of my capture device...damn you Sony!) My original opinion was to wait until the first SP, now I'm waiting for the 2nd...maybe the 3rd.
