T-Mobile Android Event Liveblog: Sept. 23
Posted by Matt Buchanan at 8:20 AM on September 19, 2008
In just a few days, T-Mobile will be taking the wraps off of the world's first Android phone and we'll be bringing it to you live. The event officially starts at 10:30AM Eastern on Sept. 23, but we'll be there early as always, hoping that the first 100 people get Google stock as a door prize. What are you hoping/expecting to see Sergey pull out of his pants, besides what we've already seen and know? I'm pulling for waffles, 'cause I bet I'll be hungry.

@OMG! Ponies!: As a Bostonian, I am ashamed that my city of residence has anything to do with the practice in question.
One does wonder, however, how Sergey would fit all that in his pants pocket. Maybe the LHC opened black holes in every Google employee's trousers?

@OMG! Ponies!: I can't comment now just because of the horrible mental image you've created.

Is the HTC Dream only going to be available from T-Mobile? Or will it be coming to other carriers in the near future?

You mentioned pants and a breakfast dish. Be careful - you might get a hot stack of Boston pancakes.

A lot of iPhone owners aren't excited about Android because everything covered about it so far doesn't make it seem like it'll be up-to-par or better than iPhone OS. Me (iPhone owner) on the other hand...I'm very excited for this hands-on wraps-are-off look at the Android phone. Yay Giz Live!

@Kaiser-Machead on the Edge: I'd ask what a blumpy is, but I'm pretty sure I really don't want to know.

@OMG! Ponies!: You've added yet another horrible phrase in the sordid section of my lexicon, somewhere in there with the likes of blumpy and donkey punch.
This is awesome. I'm actually excited to see what becomes of this, and I hope the likes of the new HTC will get this OS.

Anything is better than what T-Mobile currently has to offer in their phone lineup. I'll go for anything new right now and Android is the best thing they will have to offer in the near future.

Shouldn't you have a picture of Data instead of c3po, or did you guys completely missed out on Star Trek? If I remember correctly, it was:
5:00 Full House
5:30 Full House
6:00 Fresh Prince
6:30 Fresh Prince
7:00 Star Trek TNG

Badongadoodle! I am looking forward to this.. I droped my jail-unlocked tmo iphone in the washer and it croaked... so I bought an LX.. that will work in the meantime. I am looking very forward to the G1. I will definitely be buying it :)

Those of us that hate Rogers/Fido in Canada are interested because that means we might actually get phones that have a half decent OS. And, one that can be eventually ported over to our handsets, moving us away from WinMo :P

I'm hoping / almost expecting (soon at least, if not at this Tmobile launch event) for an unveiling of a new google maps mobile for Android that has turn by turn GPS navigation.
Also hoping for either Exchange sync, or a blackberry server-like middleware for Exchange (longshot, but Google certainly has the resources).
Also expecting handset availability soon after the event, with the rumored late October launch actually being for the Android app store, not the first handset.
This is just speculation, but Google is good at keeping secrets, they're not stupid, and they've seen the competition already.
