Sony Shows Off Completely Wireless OLED TV
Posted by Gizmodo US Edition at 2:30 PM on September 11, 2008
Now not only can you get Sony's OLED TV for the bargain bin price of US$1,748, you'll also soon be able to make that 11-inch hunk of visual sexiness completely wireless. Sony recently revealed a completely cordless version of the XEL-1 with an integrated HDTV tuner, a battery, and a wall mount. No specific information about the timing and price of the "I've got no strings" version, but Sony promises it'll be out "soon." [AV Watch via Engadget]

@Late_Night: Maybe they'll surprise us with a new, humongous PSP.
@SgtToastie: Until now, that joke hadn't ever made me laugh out loud. Nice work!

Actually to be serious, OLED technology is supposed to have a smaller power drain so I guess if you want to walk around your house with your $,$$$ tv Sony's got you covered....

battery? As in needing recharging or replacing? I'm sure it doesn't run on AA so I'll have to plug it in to recharge it. Hmm why not leave it plugged in, I'm not a fan of moving around monitors as I fear I may drop and destory them. Plus I don't see wireless HD so
I'll have that cord anyway. What's the point in cordless tv?

@collider: Awesome! More propietary Sony stuff. Hopefully the PSP wouldn't have built-in memory so I could buy a Memory Stick and just give all my money to Sony.

I think they should have started out with AT LEAST 14-inches. 11-inches is too small even for a laptop IMHO. I wish OLED or something similar would hurry up and get here, and at reasonable prices. I'm a photographer so that insane contrast ratio is very appealing to me!

Wait... 11 inches only? Nobody in the modorn world wants a tv that small.
Unless, they designed this tv so you can bring it in your car and to the beach.
Even so, a rechargeable tv is useless, because they'll start making them bigger and they'll need to be charged every 30 minutes.
