Slingbox Pro-HD 1080i Video Streamer Now Shipping
Posted by Sean Fallon at 1:15 AM on September 26, 2008
It took a little time, but today is the day that your patience pays off—the Slingbox Pro-HD has gone live on the product website and it is shipping to customers today. An investment of $US300 will get you started on slingin' some sweet 1080i video around your home network or over the internet to your laptop. The Pro-HD works with the Slingcatcher receiver which I'm guessing shouldn't be too far behind. [Slingbox]

Umm yeah, I'll stick with my HAVA HD, which was also one third that price.

I guess that means my Slingbox Pro is officially obsolete.

I was about to make a joke about it only sending my laptop 1080i (instead of 1080p) when I saw this notice on their Website:
Fuck 'em. Is that funny enough for you, Slingbox? Asshats.

Hurry up, SlingBox for iPhone!
With the arrival of X-plane 9, that would make 2 of my strongest iPhone wish-list items that we all posted about a year ago...

@bosskev:
Why should they waste their time for less than 10% of the market? And in any case, it's highly unlikely even 1% of that market will use this Slingbox. And further more, Macs and Linux computers can dual boot with Windows. Sooo...yeah....

The site says streaming in HD is only available for Windows. What the deuce?

@graphicwave:
Once more, why would they waste their time for less than 10% of the market when probably less than 1% of that 10% market will actually get this thing? And not to mention, Linux and Mac computers can dual boot with Windows so it DOESN'T MATTER!

So how are you supposed to get HD into this thing? It doesn't have an HDMI input, and most cable boxes deactivate the component video outputs when an HDMI cable is connected. Am I missing something?

Give me a "p" and I might actually get one.

@daftrok:
Once more... as we seen before, windows users are cheapskates. always claiming why to buy overpriiced hardware (Mac's). so it makes more sense to bring this device out for people who actually going to buy it, don't you think?
