I tired of waiting for the new 9th gen LX from Pioneer and have just acquired the 46″ Panasonic equivalent. Truly spectacular. Truly great value.

I've got an older 42" model which is great. Just a comment on the SDHC card, you can use an ordinary SD card and record video from the TV to the SD card to try it out (there should be an SD Record button the remote) and then transfer to the pc if you like (I used this a few times before I had a device that could record digital TV for ABC2 shows).

Just a word of warning though, mine uses some very non-standard panasonic codec that I had to login to the support site and give a serial number for a video camera (which was a problem as I didn't have a video camera but a plasma set). Google eventually helped sort this out where a forum entry had a direct link to get the codec. Works fine once you have it.

Hopefully they use something a little more standard now.

I bought the 46″ 800A about 3 months ago. Its a ripper of TV. I had a Samsung 650 46″ that I bought – got it home and wasn’t really impressed on how it handled SD content – considering I have about 1000 DVD’s this was an issue. I returned the LCD and picked up the plasma and it is phenomenal.

From what I have read, the newer panasonics are quite conservative with power and are comparable with similar sized LCD’s being only slighter above most LCD’s.

dy-no-mite!!! got myself a cheaper 42″ hd viera for 1k earlier this year, when i decide to upgrade im def sticking with panasonic. good times.
