I think Qantas may be overlooking one very important point here.

Their ticketing systems work adequately at the moment but their planes keep falling out of the skies.

Sorry this isn't relating to the article its relating to the Core 2 Quad ad that infiltrated my retinas. I love Giz and I understand advertising is a price to pay for free content but I think this is one step too far. The whole Giz homepage now reads like an intrusive advert with the flames and multiple banners featuring Intel's latest cash cow. Please tone this back somewhat because frankly, it detracts from the content of the site.

Megasites that have implemented this 'out of banner' advertising effectively are few and far between. Gamespot do an excellent job, where the content is not overshadowed by the ad.

I understand Giz is getting more and more commercial with its popularity surgence but I hope this is the last we see of this kind of blatant and obtrusive commercialisation.

This is an excellent idea and I hope that other international carriers follow suit – plus other service industries. The ANZ iPhone applet is also very useful.
