Palm Treo Pro Gets Telstra's Blue Tick

treoprobluetick.jpgAll you outback Gizmodians out there longing for some smartphone love, your prayers have now been answered, with Telstra giving the Palm Treo Pro their blue tick of approval.

The blue tick is the stamp Telstra pops on phones that recommend the handset for rural coverage on the NextG network. The Treo Pro is the ninth handset in Telstra's stable to be awarded the classification, and the first smartphone with the label.

So now our farmers, bush-bashers and outback neighbours can enjoy the wonders of Windows Mobile 6.1 where they live. Welcome to the club, boys and girls. Hope you enjoy your stay.

Telstra still needs better voice and data plans.

The so called "blue tick of approval" from Telstra might serve well for your average rural user who wants to choose a new handset, but for those of us who are more mindful of Telstra's little games, we know the almighty blue tick is just another way of selling a product. Interesting how it's only the handsets which Telstra prefers to sell (or supply with their bank-breaking plans) get their tick of approval.

You can just see Sol down the back paddock now, with a carefully selected range of handsets (mostly Telstra branded ofcourse) which he pulls out, checks the signal strength... ah yeah I think I'll give this one a blue tick!

"Where'd I put my blue pen?"
