Nikon D60 Black Gold Edition: So Ugly It'd Make Mr. T Cry, If He Could Cry

The mystery of Nikon's Black Gold D60 might have just been solved, and man, it is not pretty. No really, it's a downright repulsive study in tackiness, if these pictures are to be believed (sadly, it looks like they should be). Nikon has liberally slathered the D60 with cheap gold paint aaaaaaand... that's it. And you get to pay an extra $US50 to rock more shiny than the people who actually have taste and get a regular D60. I'm not sure who came up with this, but even Mr. T wouldn't use this camera. [Nikon Rumors, DP Review]

Umm..what? It really doesn't do anything different except have little gold pieces glued to it?
Obviously somebody at Nikon was inspired by the "i'm rich" application :)

So gold accents instead of silver makes it ugly??? Really kind of understated for something called "Gold Edition". I'm not sure I would have noticed if you didn't point it out to me.

@scarbrtj: Perhaps we have misinterpreted the "Black Gold" moniker. Maybe the camera's built-in flash isn't a flash at all but instead is a pop-up picture.

This camera is hideous I don't see how anyone is saying it's stylish seriously. It is the epitome of tacky and they clearly got a horrible designer (if they ever got one) to do this. The worst part is the catch for the strap on the side. Wretched!

Unfortunately, it seems someone used Nikon's Picture Project software to edit the silver into gold. And why isn't the hotshoe gold? Or the D60 logo? Why is it Black Gold Edition on the box and only Gold Edition on the shoulder strap? Someone is playing you for a fool, Giz. No way this is real. Nice try hoaxers. Next time be consistent with your lie and don't fake something that can be easily confirmed by simply going to Nikon's homepage.
