Media Sync: iTunes Syncing on HTC, Nokia, Sony, and Sony Ericsson Devices
Posted by Sean Fallon at 7:50 AM on September 4, 2008
Obviously, if you love iTunes but do not own an iPhone, syncing your music can be frustrating. Salling Software has developed a solution to this problem with Media Sync—an app that transfers playlists, music and podcasts to a wide array of Nokia, Sony, and Sony Ericsson phones (also works in a limited fashion with the HTC Touch Diamond). The basic Windows / Mac software is free, but you will have to shell out US$22 for the fast sync version. And, naturally, it does not transfer DRM protected tunes. [Salling via Cult of Mac]

I'd be happy if it would sync the playlists with my Zune.

So its a bit like the Multimedia Transfer tool that has been available from Nokia for ages. ...only not as good, because this won't do bluetooth.

Does it automatically keep audio codec types that won't play on the phone from copying over?

@RedSeven:
NO, because nokia transfer is for nokia, this is like using nokia tranfer for a sony ericsson.

Why does like, every good Mac Application cost money? Jeez stuff like this should be free, especially if those companies decided to support Mac.

@takashimiike Ultimate: Sorry, but I disagree. Salling release quality multiplatform software which requires many, many hours of development. These people aren't going to work for free.

@Leonard Nimrod : Yes, it does.
@takashimiike Ultimate : Got to put food on the table... You can use it for free if you don't mind incremental syncs taking more time than they really need to.
@Barry99705 : We're up for supporting other devices, too (the Diamond is obviously not the last WM device to be supported). Please contact support AT salling DOT com, and we can talk about it.
Cheers. J

@Leonard Nimrod: Yes it does filter out stuff that absolutely won't play.
@Barry99705 : We're very much interested in adding support for more Windows Mobile devices that support the common iTunes file formats. Until MTP is added to Windows Mobile, we could do it in USB Mass Storage mode. Does the Tilt support USB Mass Storage mode? If so, please let us know (support AT salling DOT com) so we can make the required adjustments.
