Japanese Iron Man Toy Has a Ridiculous Level of Detail
Posted by Sean Fallon at 9:01 AM on September 25, 2008
Some very talented individuals at the Japanese company Hot Toys have developed 1:6 scale Iron Man Mark I, II and III figures that feature an absolutely extraordinary level of detail. Seriously though—just look at Stark's face. Sure he looks kind of Japanese but I'll be damned if that is not the best Robert Downey Jr. has ever looked in tiny plastic form. Details are scarce, but more info is expected to be released sometime "soon." I can't wait to find out how much I can't afford to buy this!

@vic2rp: Oh yeah, it's not a doll. It's an action figure.

These usually run about $150. They're making 1:6 figures of the Batman "The Dark Knight" movie as well. They are very detailed and very nice collectibles, but not cheap. Needless to say, I have what's been made of the TDK movie and the MK III Ironman will be mine, too!

When they come out with life sized ones make sure not to bury it in your back yard.

I heard they actually had to remove the fuel pump for the flamethrower and the missle ignition system fearing that it might be a little TOO realistic.

The MkII and MkIII figures look a little off to me. Something is not quite right about the legs and torso.

$150! Wow that is about 38 gallons of gas! BURN BABY. I think these are awesome but... unless you are an ubergeek and married to someone who REALLY loves you, what is the point? If you are single and buy one... yes you will be single for infinity.

@ackthbbft: Agreed. MKII not as bad as MKIII but the hips and thighs look too slim and the chest too buff. Looks like he'd tip over.

they did it with cars, they did it with computers, they did it with toilets, and now they're doing it with action figures.
japan takes what america created and makes them 10x better.

@willyolio: What about the stuff that isnt made in USA? Like boobie mouse pads? Does the opposite hold true? Would the boobies be bigger in Texas?

Though I guess candy girls are already an improved version of love dolls..

waa~ pricey. The MkII and MkIII each cost around $220. I wouldn't be surprised to see a similar price tag on the MkI.

OK, I'm nerding out here but his eyes look great. They really look like Robert Downey Jr's eyes. That is ridiculous detail.

Wow. Not only does this surpass every McFarlane figure for detail, but it looks like it can stand up on it's own too. Nice one.
This reminds me I need to finish putting an XBox Live camera in that Iron Monger figure I dismantled.

Hot Toys is a Hong Kong company, not Japanese.
Just because the magazine that the scans are from is Japanese, doesn't mean the company making the stuff being covered is. (although Hot Toys does have a Japanese branch).
