iTunes 8 Release Candidate Is a Fake
Posted by Matt Buchanan at 2:54 AM on September 9, 2008
The dude who claimed he downloaded an iTunes 8 release candidate from a mysterious button on Apple's iTunes site has decided to release it to the world after all. And it's a whole bunch of fake crap—it's a password-protected archive with a Zune setup file. Don't download it, this guy sucks and will burn in gadget hell. [RapidShare - Thanks Johannes!]

@BasicBlack: No, it's like rushing down to Wal-Mart to be the first one to try the new shopping carts that have cool sound-activated visualizers on all sides to amuse you while you shop.

@braddanick: Yeah dude, its all good. I think Apple's site is smart enough to tell which OS you are using, so it gives you the appropriate download :D

Is it me, or is this like rushing down to Wal-Mart so you can be the first one to try out the new shopping carts?

@braddanick: maybe because the person who clicked it was on windows and apple's website is smart enough to know which to give you?

@Jon B.: That's what I'm saying. Why would the link hit up the windows version?
Sounds a little dodge to me.
As I said, I find it strange that they'd give out the Windows version first, even by accident.

Posted 3:15 AM 9/9/08
@braddanick: are you confused?
APPLE didn't offically give out anything
APPLE accidentally leaked the link out for a few seconds.
SOME GUY had a Windows computer (see picture) and wanted the Windows version
APPLE removed the download
SOME GUY hosts the download
Apple would never release anything on Windows before mac.

Don't bother is an Obama .doc file and Zune setup for PC.

Apple seems to be embracing the Microsoft method of just leaking their shit to the net and letting people participate unknowingly in the first super-secret public beta.

I find it odd they'd give out the Windows version before the Mac version.

I can only assume Gadget Hell involves any iPod product and a Mac without an internet connection to activate it.
Seriously, enough time and the most stalwart hellion will be all Gollum. Like "My preciousssss."
Oh wait, that's any iPod owner already. (Me included)

@YourTechSupport:yes, your right. Because every iPod and mac needs to be activated online before one can use it....
Oh wait, that's not right because NO mac ever has ever needed to be online in order to function. You must be thinking "windows" activation. You know, like, every single copy needs to be activated by calling microsoft or going...... Online.
Every iPod? No, only the iPhone (maybe touch?) has ever needed to be activated in order to use.
This is why you fail.

I think it's a pretty good joke; funny watching you all get your knickers in a twist and declaring he'll burn in gadget hell for fooling you.
You all should have been tipped off when the installer was smaller than than 100MB anyway. He should have had it at half a gig for added realism.
