Inspiron Mini 9 Going for US$99 if You Buy Another Dell
Posted by Kit Eaton at 6:26 PM on September 4, 2008
Until 6AM September 9th, according to Dell's own blog, if you buy a Studio 15, XPS M1530 or XPS M1330 machine from Dell, you can buy an Inspiron Mini 9 for a suitable mini price of US$99. It's a mini bargain.
AU: Not sure if this will follow through to the AU site, but I don't think it will, somehow...[Direct2Dell]

it looked amazing, untill i saw the word "Glossy" on the linked address. that means i can't take it anywere. the biggest disadvantage of my macbook, is the screen, it's glossy. i can see everything on the screen! for example the clouds, the train that drives by, the people standing behind me, the airplane in the sky is also really clear, in such a high resolution. but i can't see anything that i'm supposed to look at. i can't view photoshop, indesign, illustrator etc etc etc. only if the room is totally dark.

I wonder if my Dell account exec. will allow me to apply this deal retroactively on the XPS I recently bought...

This just makes me happier because if I was waiting to pounce on this one still, they'd completely sell me the desktop I decided to wait a year to replace.
Whew.

@Kaiser-Machead on the Edge: Well ho ho way to RTFA dingus, it's more laptops. I dunno, it doesn't seem as attractive since you'd already have a laptop, but KoRnholio8 makes it all better.

Damn that's a steal. SInce this is the only Dell I'd want to buy, no matter, but anyone who was going to buy a big desktop would now have a little companion system to compliment their purchase. Excellent.

I literally just bought 2 Dell XPS m1330's in the last two weeks. Is there any way to take advantage now without returning them?

Damn it....my new m1330 is sitting in my laptop bag and it's not even a month old.
Curse you linear perception of time!!!

@Kaiser-Machead on the Edge: See, now, I have a client who is shopping for a laptop to replace one that was stolen. I may ask if she is willing to go Dell and make a deal - let me piggyback on her order and get this mini for my self. Like I need it, because, well, one laptop just isn't sufficient anymore.
...but $99... that's pretty freakin' compelling....

this is not a deal at all. who in their right mind will spend $940+ and then spend $99 on a laptop? nutter of a deal.

@jibbly: Yeah, one would think it makes sense that someone buying a desktop might find use for a mini-laptop, while someone buying a laptop probably has less use for another, smaller laptop.

Nice although I would have preferred a desktop + mini deal. This just goes to show that their laptop margins are way higher than desktops and can afford to give up some cash for an immediate boost in sales.
Dear Dell, bring this deal to desktop land and I will be your bff. Uh. 4 real. Not like 1999 when I swore I would h8 u 4eva.

@PipeRifle: Agreed, if they gave you the mini for $99 with the purchase of that little Studio desktop thing, but when I saw the Studio 15 was a laptop...

poo. Got a Studio 15 two weeks ago and Dell won't retro-activate the offer for me. Not that I expected it, but I'm really bored so I called them anyway.

This deal is no good. I called dell and spoke with two people and they could find no information about it.

I'd give this a try. I'd like to see how OS X might run on it.

it'd be a good deal if you could apply other discounts or coupons. they'll probably require that you pay the full price for the studio or xps in order to get the mini for $99

Here are the websites for the three models. I had to contact Dell to get any info, they do not seem motivated to list this anywhere on their website.
