Google Co-Founder Expects Chrome-Like Browser For Android
Posted by Sean Fallon at 6:55 AM on September 4, 2008
It probably comes as no surprise, but Google co-founder Sergey Brin believes that Chrome will make its way into Android in one form or another (both Chrome and the current Android browser employ WebKit).
"Probably a subsequent version of Android is going to pick up a lot of the Chrome stack," Brin said, pointing to JavaScript improvements as one area."
He also noted that it would most likely take on a new name to indicate its mobile status. Chrome Mobile? Just a thought, guys. [CNET via MobileCrunch via CrunchGear]

The should call it eggshell... for the apparent reference to both shine vs. chrome and the ground beneath which Google treads in the browser wars.

Google is going to provide, among other things, editing of Google docs through a mobile browser (which is sorely lacking) and offline via Chrome at the same time, probably.

Noobs: What exactly is being copied? The pictured mock-up? Looks more Centro than anything. Moreover, the pictured phone has a send key where none exists on the iPhone.
Hate to break it to you, but it's not all about Apple.

Why does everybody have to copy Apple? Is there no one left in silicon valley with any originality?

@Fourthletter: That actually looks more like an off-white. And Apple doesn't have claim to the color white. White has existed long before Apple, and will exist long after Apple is gone. The way I see it, maybe Pizza Hut and Reading Rainbow should be suing Apple... They've been using the color white, and all the other primary colors for a much longer time.
The only "color" that may safe to use anymore is black, and I think Sony has a copyright on Black.

Why does Android copy Apple ?
Not Symbian, WinMo, Palm OS, Blackberry etc.
As for originality how about Dashboard, oh wait they ripped that off Konfabulator or Touch gestures, no they licenced that off Percptive Pixel.
Well surely Visual Voicemail, oh no wait they paid out a licence for that too.
Where is all the originality again ? cause white plastic is getting soooo common these days.

@Noobs-R-Us: They're just using a lot of the tech Apple uses, that Apple themselves credit as open source.
