@donlphi: okay... after restarting the phone, it seems to work much better. It's still slightly cluttered.

it looks great, but it's extremely buggy. I sort of wish I could switch back to the old one. It looks a little cluttered too.

@ttech10:
Nevermind, deleting + re-install seemed to fix it.

cool too bad the only things I happen to hate on facebook are notifications, newsfeed, and newsfeed comments which are about half the new things.

This is actually really, really good. I guess it all depends on what you do most on Facebook, but for someone like me, who uses it as a casually used tool to keep in touch with some friends, this iteration of the iPhone app is fantastic, and probably even better than the cluttered mess that is the web version of Facebook 2.0.

Alright, if your encountering problems with the face book app for iPhone just keep on using it and eventually they will go away. That's how it worked for me. At first I kept having problems with things not loading. Like I tapped "Notifications" and then it said "Unable to load" or whatever the error messages.
So people don't put down the facebook app yet. It's going to be insane once I get a 3g. 3g+Facebook= always connected :D Edge.... could work I guess but whatever.

Finally an app thats not just pictures and status updates, I think my facebook time on computer/iphone will go from 50/50 to 5/95.

I think it's interesting how Facebook has shown what a little ingenuity can do when working with new platforms. Heck, the Facebook webapp is better than over half the SHIT in the App Store. It's kinda sad really.

@Adisah: None of these sorts of apps will mean much to me until the background notification system finally goes live - which should be... soon.

@Adisah:
I'd go with what I did. Delete old Facebook app (or new one), install new Facebook app, restart phone.
That worked for me after it would give me a blank screen with the new one after just upgrading.
I'm liking the new app a LOT more than the old one. It actually gives us info and not just a cheap, quickly made app like the old one.

@x23: Same for me, initial login keyboard wouldn't work and so I rebooted. The app seems really slow and sticks when you scroll. I also think the interface is way to crowded, there is too much going on. Oh and for some reason, it thinks that it is October 1st. Even though it is September 30th here in Japan. Weird????

...where is the S60 native app? I guess Nokia has to sell more than 777777 million of them to get any love.

I had some trouble logging in at first. Just rebooted, tried 2 times, now I am logged in and I stay logged in. No problem at all; works like a dream. Finally those extra features are available.

keyboard was stuck for me too but i just left the app and went back in and it worked. its an AMAZING upgrade. only thing i noticed was that I was hitting ACCEPT on friend notifications and they still appear to be there... :-/
Otherwise it really seems like an improvement with tons of new features. What's there to complain about?

It would be fine if my fingers were half the width they currently are.
Too damn many buttons, all too damn small.

you can now update your status on the roll! "Sarah is on the train." "Sarah is getting off the train." "Sarah is walking towards a building." Very informative, eh eh?
Facebook is useless by the way.

I thought the old app was a waste of space. This new one has some actual functionality, so that's welcome.
The keyboard did lock when logging in the first time, but quitting and opening it back up again worked. I like the new layout and functions.

this new facebook app is legit, you can see all the photos now and everything is up to date. Keyboard lock on 1st try, but that was it. Notifications are cool.
the only problem is I don't have 145 new messages in my inbox like the picture suggests.

@Some_F-in-ShiT_Ass: or he doesn't use facebook. which would be completely understandable. i try to actually talk with friends, don't need to be online 24/7 reviewing pictures of them and their family to know what the hell is going on their lives.

I got this last night. A LOT better than the older version. Now, the only thing I could ask for is maybe a way for developers to integrate their Facebook apps into the application, or even open apps with some sort of build-in web browser that cuts out all the crap with the normal Facebook. I can't go hardly anywhere on the new Facebook without Safari crashing.

You've got to admit.. they did a great Job of reproducing the actual website in this app.. Now all we need is for apple to give us the background notifications then i can stop the facebook notification emails from comming to my phone :)
