Eee PC 1000H Price Drops Even Lower; US$450 on Amazon, US$360 on MWave
Posted by Gizmodo US Edition at 12:30 PM on September 9, 2008
In case Asus' US$100 price drop in July just wasn't enough to make up your mind on whether to spring for a new Eee PC 1000H, the mini-marvel's gotten even cheaper now. Amazon is selling an 80GB, XP-equipped 1000H for just US$450. Mwave also has several in stock for either US$450 (while supplies last) or, if you're willing to go for an open box product, an almost criminal US$359. [Amazon and mwave via Liliputing]

@Late_Night:
I believe that's why many of these DO use Linux.
However, most computer users are used to Windows XP, and they feel much more comfortable using it.

@diacronic: if only that then why not run Linux? XP would seem unneccesary for just quick surfing plus an even lower price.

@gamecrazychris:
no, just add ~$20 to that and you've got the Acer Aspire One.

I think $350 is the perfect price for a netbook (as long as it comes with xp and at least 1gb of ram) is it that hard to do?

Amazon is actually $450. Click the link on the right to buy from Amazon (and not for $504 from Beach Camera)

I'm not really sure I want to trust Amazon ;) But this price drop has got me really interested in an Eee PC

@Late_Night: Apple can price its MBA as high as they want and still get buyers...
netbook is all about portability and low price...

@Late_Night: MBA is a laptop , or it is suppose to be. These are all "netbooks" , meant just for simple surfing and a quick , small , on the go pc.

eh I don't see the point in these yet, I guess I'm not the target. Hey apple, a competively priced Air would be suh-weet.

You guys are awesome. Today I ordered it off newegg for $550 with a 2GB RAM and a 4GB USB drive. I went ahead and canned it, ordered it from amazon, bumped the shipping to next day and saved myself ~$50 bucks in the process (with 2GB RAM and USB drive included). I could've saved myself more but I need this for school.

@Matt B: Actually, the WinXP model of the Acer Aspire one is now $350. And that comes with a 120GB hard drive, as well. So the Aspire one beats out the EEE in features and price, in this case.
Full disclosure: I bought an Aspire One a few weeks back and absolutely love the thing. It's a powerhouse, for what it does, and cheap as hell. Asus seems to have dropped the ball after their first EEE PC, but Acer picked it right up.
