Download Samsung BlackJack II's Windows Mobile 6.1 Update Now
Posted by Jason Chen at 11:00 AM on September 3, 2008
The BlackJack II (SGH-i617) finally gets its turn to ride the Windows Mobile 6.1 bus, which brings to it slight UI changes, better SMS threading, improved GPS navigation and internet connection sharing. There's little reason why you shouldn't get it, so download it now and join the 6.1 club. [Samsung]

Maybe it'll fix Feb 29th, 2008 not being in the Samsung 'Calendar' theme.
And, maybe, just maybe, WM will suck just a little bit less. :)

Question off topic... how do you include an image in your post?

@sqeakytoy of the apocalypse: It was the following:
img src="http://cache.gawker.com/assets/images/commenter/240000/245832_32.jpg" alt="Your Icon" title="???"
With an opening "<", but without the closing counterpart to it (which I'm too lazy to look up the proper HTML rendering for). For some reason when I included the closing angle bracket the image would neither preview nor post.
Without the closing angle bracket it works just fine.

So to included it, I need to have it uploaded to the gawker server? I wanted to post a mashup ballmer-gorn, not neccesarily my icon... hmmm

The BlackJack seems like a nice phone. Nice keyboard, thin and light, decent features.

@andyc52042: My phone must not have updated (properly) since having got it in February.
Doesn't really matter to me much now: I've been forced by my employer to go over to BlackBerry.
I'm actually impressed with the UI -- it's practical. WM -- not so much.
It also performs well and doesn't require a reboot just to get a signal after existing the subway when I've forgotten to turn off my phones radio. (But, I understand that's an iPhone 3G problem as well.).

@unspellable:
They released a patch a long time ago that fixed that problem. But yeah, ridiculous that they forgot it on the first release.

if you use facade from sbsh then you should know it will install fine but when you hit the start button it will stick the facade window over top the screen so you wont be able to see any of the start menu at all. just a heads up!

If anyone has upgraded an unlocked BJII and found that they can't edit/delete the built-in AT&T GPRS settings after upgrading to 6.1, these instructions helped me to get mine back up and running on TMobile:

@kstagg:
dude, read the instructions. You run the upgrader from your desktop, not your phone. There are some other prerequisites as well, so like I said, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS.

I'm having a heck of a time getting this to work. I sync'd the 70MB file to the "My Documents" folder of my BJII and once finished - when I click on the .exe file I get the following message:
Alert
'BlackjackII_WM6_1_Upgrade_For_XP' is not a valid Windows CE application.

@fukngrvn:
Just wondering if you uninstalled and reloaded Facade after the 6.1 update or if the update was run with it still installed. Thx!
