Creative Patent Looks Like an Internet Tablet, Digital Camera and More!
Posted by Mark Wilson at 5:00 AM on September 12, 2008
This newly discovered patent by Creative, whether actually in production or not, looks like a pretty neat device. Because from what we can make out from the diagrams, it appears to be much more than just a another media player. Internet tablet seems to make sense, with that right oval on the side being a logical (OK, remotely possible) indication of a Wi-Fi antenna. But we've seen stuff like this before. Flip it around to the backside, however, and surprise! There's a camera.
Well, it sure looks like a camera at least. How great would such a device be if coupled with a super powerful image search engine?
Really great. That's how great. Really great. [anythingbutipod]

No, it's a media controller.

@Late_Night: It looks more like an IR eye to me. This could very well end up being a plastic unit, thus would not need a special panel for WiFi anyway.
@electroseven: I think he means the circle above the logo.

The bottom thing is surely just the trademark Zen ripple, but the smaller top circle sure looks like a webcam or something. The rest of the device looks like a reworked Zen Portable Media Center.

er, but why would you want it if you have a smartphone with wi-fi and a built in camera?

The concentric circle design resembles their Zen logo.

@Mark Wilson : How can you deduce that's a Wi-FI antenna? Maybe you're more skilled from following these leaked patent drawings.

Were there any words associated with this patent? Like what it does that is not being done by the plethora of Internet Tablet-like devices available today?????? I say meh!

That's what it looks like to me; just another media player. Do we need another media player? I don't think so. But here it is.

Plus, the 13.6 megapixel Sony Cyber shot costs less than $350.

sweet, now it nets two swivel thumb nobs like PSP mods or coolmods.co.uk to play 360 degree, 3-d games; and have an incredible ssd hard drive with a large megapixel lens like Sony's Cyber shot camera that has 13.6 megapixels at the Sony Store at the Mall! But, add more than it's 8x optical zoom with more modes for its camcorder functions. This will be awesome! But, it sounds great already!
Ciao!
