Build Your Own Wi-Fi Hotspot Scooter For Great Safety
Posted by Jason Chen at 10:34 AM on September 5, 2008
Not that there's anything inherently wrong with riding a scooter, but only one of us at Gizmodo proudly admits to owning one. Maybe if Jenny Silverwoman had one of these roving Wi-Fi hotspots capable of "long distance war driving, GPS navigation, Skype calls...and the ability to record TV programs," that'd really be something for her to brag about. Or, you know, cry when it would get stolen really quickly. [Thougtlab via MAKE]

I'll cut Jason some slack because it's his first day with the new job.

I am the proud owner of a Vespa and i always have something to brag about : how about great mileage, free AC and best panoramic view money can buy?
i could use the wifi, TV will kill me not a good idea on 2 wheels...or even on 4 for that matter... unless it's in the back for the "kids"

@Gino Camaro: Yes, I guess with the price of gas getting as high as it is, I might have to eat a little pride.

That's because you need a motorcycle license to ride a scooter of >49ccs, right?
There's nothing wrong with scooters. Or mopeds.
Let's get back to making fun of idiots that use PCs or apple fanboys. Much more satisfying.

I wanted to get a scooter a couple of years ago. I went to the scoot shop chose one I liked and then I sat on it. My friends, let me say that that day was the same day that I made an appointment for my motorcycle licence.

So a passerby on the street get reception for what, 2 sec?
What is the point here, except that you should really just buy a motorcycle?
Scooters are for renting on vacation.
Mopeds are for running errands and short to medium commutes.
Motorcycles are for owning and riding around town.

I've been looking into scooters for the wife - she has her M class endorsement, but after flipping the Nighthawk in the Motorcycle Safety Foundation class, she won't even get on the back of my bike.
Seriously though, I'd rather pedal my bicycle. Yeah, my moto gets 30MPG - I prefer the power. Two wheels is not about saving gas.

@AdmNaismith:
Good thing you cleared that up. I wouldn't want to accidentally own my scooter and ride it around town.

No no, you're doing it wrong. The title should end in "for great justice."
