Bought several Xtremes at 1.5TB. Terrible. Drives frequently dropped off system and were no longer visible. Tried USB and eSATA interfaces with same result. Set power save to "Never", still lost connection. Tested on several different computers (2 Dell Optiplexes, 3 Poweredge servers, one HP) running Win XP, 2003 Server, Sever 2008, Ubuntu. All the same. We bought 6 of these, and I'm not sure we'll beb able to use any of them. We're commencing the testing of the smaller FreeAgent Go drives as a comparison. So far, they seem better. The older FreeAgent Classic drives have been rock solid. I don't know why, but Seagate took a step backwards with the Xtreme drives.

Got the drive a week ago. Absolutely stylish, pretty nice but just failed ! I didnt even copy 400 GB to it.

Too bad. Will try to see how much it survives. It started making clicking noises.
