Wiimotes Blessed by Straps in More Than One Colour

Surely, at least a few of you are sad that Nintendo never released the Wii in multiple colours—despite their announcement promises. Well good news! No, the Wii isn't coming in any new colours, but Nintendo has launched the Wiimote strap in almost any flavour you'd like—blue, green, pink and, uhh, white again. Available in Japan only for the time being, the safety harnesses will go for US$2.75 apiece or in a variety pack of four for about US$9. In other news, Nintendo makes a bajillion more dollars without even really trying. [Kotaku]

Not sure this is such a good idea unless the Wiimotes stay at the player # they are assigned to. Imagine bowling with a green ball but your strap is pink?

@Nintenboy01: I put the white Wii next to my Xbox 360, which is also white (yeah, I didn't spring for the Elite, sue me.) It looks like the Xbox's little sister or something... if only it was pink.
I still don't see how color matters when it comes to gaming. Especially the wrist straps. Okay, maybe for identifying which controllers belong to which socially maladjusted child... I just use a Sharpie on mine... sure it kills the resale value, but it works!

I just want wriststraps with the clicky things. I bought my Wii and remotes before Nintendo started using them. Then someone stepped on the old-type slider and broke it. It's now totally useless, but luckily I have enough motor control and intelligence to not throw the remote through the screen regardless.
Maybe if I make some friends, I'll have to buy these. A way to differentiate controllers would be nice.

Curse you Nintendo! I still want a black Wii one day. The current one sticks out like a sore thumb among the rest of my AV gear and consoles.

So Nintendo finally releases some color customization for the Wii and the only colors they do are pastel?! Even the DS had more options!

OH FRABJOUS DAY! I can have pastel shoelaces on my Wii controller! This is the best news I've heard since I found out I can put stickers on my MacBook!
Just, wow. This is what passes for innovation at Nintendo? I really hope they're just saving up for a big Xmas blitz. In the meantime, I'll be hugging my Xbox.

well, mark, you're right. Nintendo will make millions of dollars from this "cough" stupid "cough" object.
but theres good news! next year we will see coloured wii stands and coloured nunchuck connector cables
